So I was looking over everything last night and WOW do we look like we're in good shape for next year.

As far as seniors go we definitely lose pitchers Byrd, Cain, Coleman and Haydel (he's pretty much a pitcher now). On top of them we lose fielders in McGhee, Helenihi and Pontiff. None of these guys are starters except for Coleman.

As far as juniors who very likely won't be back are Dean and Mitchell. LaMahieu is eligible but someone said a little while back he talked to his family and he said he'll be back, so let's assume he's back.

We lose 1 weekend starting pitcher in Coleman and 2 everyday starting fielders in DH Dean and OF Mitchell.

Let's assume no freshmen start next year (I'm sure 1 or some might, but can't tell at this point)...who is your weekend starters for 2010?

Mine...

1 - JR. Ranaudo
2 - JR. Bradshaw
3 - JR. Ross

C - JR. Gibbs
1B - SR. Ochinko (When Lefty is on mound), SR. Schimpf (When Righty is on mound)
2B - JR. LaMahieu
SS - SO. Nola
3B - SO. Hanover
OF - JR. Landry (When righty is on mound), SR. Schimpf (When lefty is on mound)
CF - SO. Mahtook
OF - JR. Jones (rSO. Dishon when Jones is off with football)
DH - rFR. Didier

i have no idea about how we're doing recruiting and won't until after the draft, but if PM gets another top class, we'll more than likely have some more freshman badasses like mahtook, hanover, ott, and nola that will play a huge role for us again

I know its a little early to talk about this...But who doesn't like to talk about the future.

Sunday-Von Rosenburg(freshman)
Closer-Ott
Reliever-Bradshaw,Matulis,Jones,freshman

C-Gibbs
1B-Ochinko
2B-Lemahieu
SS-Nola
3B-Hanover
LF-Schimpf
CF-Landry
RF-Mahtook
DH-A.Edward(freshman)

He's going to have to beat out Didier, Delatte, and Zeigler for that spot, IMO.

Also, if Slade Heathcott doesn't go pro, he will be in the lineup somewhere.

I dont know how much I would count on Von Rosenburg. Kid is probably going to be drafted in the few rounds.

I think Brody Colvin and Slade Heathcott are more likely to be lost to the draft than Von Rosenburg.

If he comes, he will play.

I think Dishon is that guy that's gonna surprise everyone next year, I think he locks up an OF spot IMO

That would make us a preseason #1.

Might still be if he leaves.

I think Mitchell could use another year, if you cant hit left handed pitching better than that you are not going to last long in the BIgs.If he continues to develope he could be really good!

first or 2nd round pick? he can learn to hit lefty pitching more efficiently in the minors than at LSU anyway

also, unless he wanted to start paying for part of his schooling, he would also have to play football again in the fall, because he wouldn't get a full ride for baseball.
