Can't say "WE" when talking about LSU if not an alum

Why can't everyone feel like they are part of the team? Who does that hurt? I know plenty of non-alumni who are way bigger fans of the teams than alumni.

It actually does kinda bother me... most of my friends from high school went to LA Tech.
After '03 they're all now "big" LSU fans...
I told them back in 2000... "You're making a mistake going to Tech"
I knew where I was going...

if those people are paying money to support LSU athletics then why should I have a problem with it? They aren't going around pretending to have graduated from LSU or anything.

Anyone that supports the team, buys tickets or spends money on team apparel, etc, that helps finance the University's atheltic programs, is a WE. Regardless of whether or not they went to said University.

i think that he's saying that being an alumnus/alumna makes you part of the university
the idea of "we" is the idea of LSU. you earn that right to be a part of LSU by attending and graduating from the University

Kind of weak for a Monday topic. This is the type of stuff you would expect to hear during the summer to keep an audience tuned in. Not during the final four, NBA stretch run, baseball and the draft around the corner, etc. Oh well, Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and they all stink.

For the record, he never attended LSU... I can see where this might be helpful in picking up chicks though. I've used it...

To me, you earn the right to be a part of LSU every time they cash your TAF check. Without that money most of the new shite on campus wouldn't exist. They certainly don't give a shite if you're an alum when it comes to that do they??

I've been an LSU fan my entire life, but I'm from the state of Tennessee, so I attended my instate university in Knoxville but never even came close to being a Vol fan, and I definitely say we in reference to LSU and never for UT. I have, without a doubt, spent much more money on LSU athletics than for anyone else.
