I comprised these since a lot of folks seem to be upset with his offense.

Let me first start off by saying his defense has been great, arguably best on the team, but he's definitely the worst hitter on the team now. These are just some stats for those to see.

Kentucky Series
1 for 10, 7 SO, 1 RBI

South Carolina Series
3 for 9, 2 SO, 1 BB, 5 RBI, 1 HR

Ole Miss Series
1 for 13, 6 SO, 2 RBI, 1 2B

Total through 9 SEC games, 3 SEC Series
5 for 32, 15 SO, 1 BB, 8 RBI, 1 2B, 1 HR, .156 BA

That's pretty abysmal.

I think the most telling stat besides the lack of hits is the Ks:BBs...you have to be really impatient to only draw 1 walk in 9 games.

We need LL to come around. That guy is too valuable in the field to not be able to play him.

Folks, I agree he's an above-average outfielder, but he misjudges several balls, some of which fall, some of which he is able to recover and make a great play. His skills aren't THAT amazing.

15 Ks in 32 ABs is awful (The high # of strikeouts for this team bothers me a lot). You can't say that he is just unlucky if he is striking out so much.

Yeah, things aren't looking for you if you can't even put the ball into play half the time you come to the plate (just about)

Maybe he needs lasik eye surgery... He can't be that bad at the plate on his own for 2 years.

i agree, thats not good at all. wow, that was kinda sobering.

with that said, i still dont think benching him is the answer. not seeing pitches is the worse thing to do. batting practice is one thing, game experience is another. he needs to see the pitches. i hope he works his way out of this.

It's temporary till chad jones comes back. Then you bench him and let him sit until he realizes that he's a lead off man, not barry bonds illegitiment son. He's nice to hit bombs against mcneese and slu but shite you should at least smell the ball against sec opponents.

theres nothing for him to work out of. hes always been a pretty bad hitter. thats what these threads are about. in order for him to turn things around, he would have to develop into a better batter.

Leon is a superb talent. He's in a slump. It happens in baseball.

This really isn't much of a slump him offensively. He was hitting poorly (compared to the team) last year too.

the answer is not the lead off spot.
