Yes, Yes, River Road Shrimp. Creme of crawfish soup (If they still have it)

How far is the drive from around LSU to Robertos?
Only like 20 minutes or so right>

Yep...just head down nicholson to Bayou Paul Lane (at the light), take a right, go down to River Road, take a right and it'll be down about 0.5-1 mile

I like the catfish Billy plate. Its fried catfish toped with a crawfish etouffe' with rice and steamed veggies on the side. A small sensation salad comes with it too and a slice of very good garlic bread.

was good. but I expected much more after the hype...

I agree. I went once, and it was good, but certainly not what it was hyped up to be.

I also recommend Catfish Billy. But be on the lookout for the specials, which change often and are usually outstanding.

Good food. They do fried food well. Don't get the puff pastry dish, wasn't that great. Fun place to go.

If this restaurant was in N.O. it would be rated as "world class".
These N.O. food homers here are really amusing.

Let's be realistic and realize where the hype comes from. I'm a Roberto fan but I realize it for what it is. A good, kinda out of the way restaurant on par with Hymels in Convent and Joe Dryfuss in Livonia. Not incredible but worth a trip or two on occasion.
Realize the hype for most food or restaurants on this board are debatable.

I agree... I'm not a huge fan of Hymel's or Joe's Dreyfus, either. Both are good, but I really don't want to drive that far just for something good. If I'm driving that far, I want something fantastic.

Well you have to realize it is the experience, company, ambiance, atmosphere, cocktails, food, etc... that make it worth while. It is not always about the food. Now by that I mean, all of the above can line up with the moon and as long as the food is middle to upper scale you are ok. However, if the food really sucks it doesn't matter if Madonna is having a pull with you. It just doesn't work.

Well, in my opinion, there are SO many places in Louisiana for food choices, that I give a place a try and if it isn't something super-special, then I'd rather try something else new the next time.

I agree but you have to have the not so super special meals in order to appreciate the super special meals otherwise how would you know they are super special?

Nah, I know when something is truly great and something isn't.

World class? Seriously? Those are strong words. I have been wanting to go here for quite some time now - thinking of going in two to three weeks.
