I would go with Herbsaint as well. Last time I went to Delmonico, they served us a beef tongue salad. Talk about adventurous!
Thanks, everyone. I feel much more informed now.
What's the deal with Brandt's Maisonette?

Brandt's Maisonette... on Government Street, Mid-City. You never hear about it, but people definitely go there. And the menu (I went in and glanced at it once) seems ambitious. Does anyone here have an opinion about it?
I will be going there next weekend. Glad to hear you liked it. Those dishes sound good. How was the service?
Gotta go with Jaleo... my favorite Spanish restaurant. It's near the Shakespeare Theater.
The korma is the best I've ever had anywhere. Anything from the tandoor is awesome. The lunch buffet is OK, but really dinner menu items is where they shine. They even have lots of South Indian vegetarian options, which is uncommon.

I'm with the Mike Anderson's voting block. How many times have I heard people rave about a friggin' piece of soggy fish drowning in butter and lump crab. Booooooring and overrated.
Tsunami in the Shaw Center downtown.
I would go with Little Village or Tsunami, in that order.
I also recommend Catfish Billy. But be on the lookout for the specials, which change often and are usually outstanding.

If you want to pull some shreds, I would recommend slicing it first into 1-inch slices, then pulling the slices apart. You don't want BIG LONG strings in your sandwiches.
Have you been to Yvette Marie's? It's a little cafe with quite good lunchtime fare located at the corner of Park/19th and Government. Great place for lunch.
re: Question about Roberto's

Your post makes me laugh. Yes, it does look quite run down on the outside. The inside is by no means fancy schmancy, but it's also NOT a hole in the wall at all. And, yes, they are open. God forbid that place close... I would kill myself.
I assure you, there is a reason that you have to wait for hours on some Saturdays. The food is phenomenal. The wine list is great (and relatively cheap). Everything is perfectly cooked, and the desserts are yummo. Roberto and his co-chef always make up a few dynamite specials that I usually try. The Catfish Billy is super good, too, and is not oversauced.
I can't say enough good things about Roberto's. Ignore the shack look of the place. Go inside and sit your arse down. I guarantee you will like it. It's not fine dining, but it is FINE food.

In Baton Rouge, the Lobster Pumpkin Bisque they served last Christmas Season was heavenly.
In the U.S., I remember an excellent braised shortrib ravioli at FiAMMA Trattoria and Bar at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
In the world, a veal involtini in Florence... can't remember the name of the restaurant.
