This reminds me of the Pels and Willie Green. They kinda knew the guy wasn't working, but they said, "what the hell. 1 more year." The Red Sox threw their season away just like the Pels did doin that.

Not surprised. Losing is something he's very accustomed to.

He lasted there longer than I expected. Like the saying goes: You can't fire the players.

Between the prospects brought up not playing well, they focused more on pitching than offense in free agency.... a lot has gone wrong for them. Crochet has been off, Gray got hurt, Suarez pitched well recently but still think there's an adjustment.

Casas is out with injury, leaving one less power bat available.
Between Anthony's questionable play in OF, bats going cold, Trevor Story having just one good year out of 5.... pretty clear why it's been a disaster. Story contract up there with them signing Carl Crawford years ago.

Can’t win without cheating. We don’t talk nearly enough about the Red Sox cheating in 2018.

The New York Yankees were fined $100,000 by MLB in 2017 for improper use of a dugout phone, with a released 2017 letter confirming they used the video room for sign-stealing in 2015-16.

The fanbase has been chanting for Henry to sell the team for a while now.

This will not help. Cora and the staff are not the problem there and everyone knows it.

The ownership went full cheapskate after the Betts trade, when he was a top player in the league and from their own system and just didn't want to pay him. They've basically been irrelevant since their last title in '18.

Cora was terrible and should have been fired years ago. The most overrated manager for years. The ownership and front office are also a major problem.

Odd timing to fire a guy immediately after a 17-1 win

I never liked the Betts trade, could live with the Devers trade if it meant the team was less dysfunctional, but to basically trade both guys essentially as a salary dump is awful.

The ROI is almost nothing of value, if anything remains. And with whatever they felt they're saving there, they replaced Betts and Devers on the active roster with scrubs. And now with Kyle Harrison playing fairly well, they surely could use him in their starting rotation but... they got Caleb Durbin instead..
