A U.S. Army soldier was arrested on an indictment accusing him of using classified information to make bets that won him $400,000 on the Polymarket prediction market related to the American military mission that captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, the Department of Justice said on Thursday.
The soldier, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, “participated in the planning and execution of the” operation to capture Maduro, the DOJ said.
Van Dyke is expected to be presented on Thursday evening to a magistrate judge in federal court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
“Our men and women in uniform are trusted with classified information in order to accomplish their mission as safely and effectively as possible, and are prohibited from using this highly sensitive information for personal financial gain,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
“Widespread access to prediction markets is a relatively new phenomenon, but federal laws protecting national security information fully apply,” Blanche said.

Damn our DOJ actually can arrest someone. Weird they can do this but not arrest leftist that continue to break laws. Also weird that they can’t arrest anyone else but just regular non Dem folks. Almost like a three tiered justice system

He should have let Crenshaw bet.
The idea of only certain people being able to be arrested for insider trading is bullshite. It needs to either not exist or everyone has to be subject to it.
Insane Crenshaw and Pelosi can take this same top secret info and trade off it, but this guy does it and our Republican DOJ can magically now arrest people instead of making social media post about it.

Guy made a mistake registering as a Republican or independent. He should have swapped registration to Dem and then made the bet. He would be safe from the DOJ

Our society is really doomed when that’s something you can gamble on

Yea as well as Congress insider trading. The basic rule is there are no rules or punishment for Dems of any level. There is basically no punishment if you are an in republican, if you aren’t an in one then you will get your arse hammered.

Can we all agree “prediction markets” are our garbage and serve zero purpose in any legitimate civilization
Posted on 4/23/26 at 6:03 pm to TigerDeBaiter
Yea they are garbage for sure.

What they're actually upset about is that the soldier made a lot of money. Perhaps enough to allow him to pursue a life outside of military service. They don't want that. They want you looking forward to that reenlistment bonus.
