Virginia voters have narrowly approved a Democrat-drawn mid-decade congressional gerrymander, handing Democrats up to four additional U.S. House seats. But how did Republicans lose, given the vote was so close, and given their massive funding advantage? We break it down here:

quote:

WHAT HAPPENED: Virginia voters narrowly approved a Democrat-drawn mid-decade congressional gerrymander by a margin of roughly 81,188 votes — 51.3 percent to 48.7 percent with more than 95 percent reporting at the time of publication. The constitutional amendment hands the Democrat-controlled General Assembly power to redraw Virginia’s congressional districts through October 31, 2030.

quote:

COST PER VOTE: A snap analysis by The National Pulse shows the “Yes” (Democrat) side spent $62.3 million, divided by 1,545,736 votes (at the time of publication), which comes to around $40.30 per vote. Meanwhile, the Republican “No” side spent around $20 million, divided by 1,464,548 votes, for an average of $13.66 per vote. Democrats spent three times as much per head — and still only cleared 51.3 percent.

quote:

PENNY WISE: Closing the 81,188-vote gap at the “No” side’s own efficiency rate would have cost around $1.1 million — just over one percent of what the GOP burned on John Cornyn’s primary campaign against Ken Paxton in Texas last month. Even a generous real-world multiplier, accounting for diminishing campaign returns, lands at just $2 million to $4 million.

quote:

CORNYN CALCULUS: Republicans spent roughly $95.1 million on the Cornyn–Paxton primary in Texas. The “No” side in Virginia spent roughly $20 million. That is about five times more on a single Senate incumbent than on a referendum that could cost the party four House seats.

quote:

THE FIRM: Virginians for Fair Maps — the losing “No” campaign — was run by Mike Young, a partner at FP1 Strategies, which was founded by Chris LaCivita. LaCivita is simultaneously the senior campaign consultant for the Cornyn super PAC which has spent all that money attacking Ken Paxton, and pushing Trump to endorse Cornyn, who has repeatedly stabbed the President in the back. Ninety-five million dollars went one way. Twenty million went the other. And much of it through LaCivita’s own companies and partners.

Hmmm, that sounds suspiciously like a Dominion voting machine manipulated outcome. “Oh, you were so close, guys.” Wink, wink…

Who gives a shite the Republicans had power and did nothing with it they deserve to lose because they have no balls.
frick thune and Cornyn, McConnell and all the limp wristed play to the middle crowd.

Trump has been stopped by his own party now he can be stopped by democrats. Politicians only like the politician class and the average American and DJT ain't in it.

It seemed like 80% of the ads I saw and heard were for the Yes vote. Barack Obama had an ad before every YouTube video.

The No side came on a little late. There were a lot of people on the No side that weren’t mobilized to vote.

So you're saying ad blockers are the key to saving our republic? I can't believe so many people waste so much time on LoserTube.

There is no way this doesn't get thrown out simply because of the language on the referendum, let alone the other issues.

If that's the case why throw money at it when it wont stand?

This is the kind of shite Trump needs to do a better job at. He is the leader of the Republican Party.

Sounds great for a court case, can 51% of voters intentionally take away representation for 49%.

I don't think spending any more money would've changed the results. Trump counties turned out and almost every county moved to the right. The problem was, and always will be, Fairfax and Loudon.

The SCOTUS had a chance to end all of this and they choose not to

Democracy is such a gay and stupid system

This is a perfect example of the 51% voting to rule over the 49%

Sounds an awful lot like mob rule eh…. Where the majority get to impose their will against the minority.

This is why our Founding Fathers hated democracy and favored a constitutional republic.

Sean Spicer just said if they would have only spent $5 million more, they could have beat this.

And...The RNC relies to heavily on consultants and ignored the grassroots effort that was screaming for help.

Raheem Kassandra is a total dipshit. Virginia elections are corrupted, just like all other elections using proprietary software to count votes and mail in ballots with no chain of custody security….

Republicans blew it when they didn’t give a shite about midterms in Virginia allowing Dems to make huge gains following a massive red victory with the state capital going all red.

They blew it again the last election with zero support for the governors race. Trump never even endorsed Earl-Sears.

Democrats understand just how important this state is to DC. The swamp doesn’t live in DC. The swamp lives in Fairfax and Alexandria.
