Did You Know (Papal Edition)

Following the invasion of the Muslim raiders in 846, where they targeted St Peters, Pope Leo IV ordered the construction of large medieval walls to protect the Vatican from future Islamic invasions. They still stand to this day.
FF to 2026, there is a new Pope named Leo, and this Pope Leo stands behind those same walls lecturing the world on their immigration policies, daring to keep invaders out of their various countries.
How ya like them apples?

The Vatican in ridiculously hypocritical on illegal immigration.

That wall is to protect the official records of all the pedophile priests since then

Surface level “gotcha” is surface level…
First, the walls weren’t about modern immigration policy. They were built after a literal raid on Rome. That’s defense against invasion, not a statement about how a nation should treat migrants, refugees, or asylum seekers in a completely different political context.
Second, the Pope isn’t a head of state speaking about border logistics like a president. He’s speaking on moral principles: human dignity, the treatment of the vulnerable, the obligation to balance justice with mercy. Those principles apply whether a country ultimately tightens or loosens policy.
Third, the Church has never taught “no borders.” It affirms a nation’s right to defend itself and regulate immigration. It also teaches that migrants are human beings with dignity, not just problems to manage. Holding both of those at the same time isn’t hypocrisy, it’s moral tension.
So no, it’s not “build walls then shame others for doing the same.” It’s… Defend your people, yes… But don’t lose your moral compass in how you treat others while doing it. Those aren’t contradictory unless you reduce everything to politics.
Apples—> sauce

No need for Europe to get raided, white liberals like yourself will import their military aged males over in mass and open up the public coffers to them.

Good, so he can keep his fricking trap shut on such matters, then.

The pope is the head of the sovereign city-state Vatican city. The Vatican, just like the US, has immigration laws. Of course theirs are much more stringent and tightly administered than the US, which is where the ridiculous hypocrisy comes in.
