I engaged you in this thread because you came across like you're not ignorant. If you are truly unaware of these things, just go read about the pope as Monarch, illegal immigration laws/penalties and deportation for Vatican City, and then google Leo's comments on deportations, his bishops letter on mass deportations, and even go back to predecessor "teachings" on universal destination of goods. Remember my comment wasn't only about Leo, but the Vatican.

I do not defend Leo’s predecessor. He was a heretic and I couldn’t stand him during his entire tenure. What I do think is happening is a wild misunderstanding of what Leo has said. Some people just outright misrepresent what he said. I’m not claiming you are doing that, but I think there’s a perception issue here.

It was John Paul (and others before him) that spoke to the principle of universal destination of goods. Benedict probably did, too, but it's JP that I remember it about.
