This has to be the biggest collection of randoms I’ve ever seen. Mostly sad, depressing souls. Is this stretch the biggest armpit of America?
Nothing but gas stations with shady casinos attached. Random people just hanging out, walking around in the middle of the day on a weekday. Saw everything from a guy asking me got a $1 at the gas station to a normal looking couple walking hand in hand down the side of the hwy (WTF?) to a cheap motel by an adult video store looking like prostitutes were working as a pimp mobile sat outside. All this going down at noon on a Wednesday while loud trucks and commuters drove by.
Just was getting gas, observing society, and wondering why these people can’t do better. Going to work and getting a paycheck ain’t that hard.

I’m related to most of those folks, they’re good people if you just gave them a chance.
Don’t be so judgy.

Leads me to another question, why hasn’t anything west of the river grown? The BR sprawl has grown in every other direction yet all these towns west of the river, less than an hour from BR look like they did 30 years ago.

Are you talking about Port Allen?
I honestly have no clue what 415 and 290 is.
Probably not even close considering all big cities have pockets of homeless and fentanyl zombies. There are places far worse than Louisiana.

You obviously have never been down Florida Boulevard.
To call that area an “armpit” would be a major complement.

The Popeyes on 415 is an undefeated pregame meal before an excursion at the crazy horse.

It was good enough for Jimmy Swaggart.
Don't knock it till you try it.

A Wilbert's Sons owns most of the land West of the Lobdell exit all the way to the parish line.
Current land holdings:
95,000 acres bottomland and hardwood timber
700 acres plantation pine (loblolly) timber
13,000 acres tillable agricultural property
5,200 acres pasture, commercial, campsites, etc.
Nearly 120,000 acres TOTAL

Damn....you must not really travel much.
I'm hoping when the 415 Extension extends 415 to south of the intracoastal and connects the northern and southern part of WBR is that more things will grow there. No, not more vape shops, dollar stores, or storage facilities. But businesses like a Home Depot and/or Lowes, Academy, etc. It would be great for Iberville, WBR, and Pointe Coupee where a lot of those people would not have to travel into BR for certain things.
And BTW, it's 190 not 290.

So you’re going to judge people based on a 2 mile stretch of highway that stretches between 2 US highway you cannot even identify correctly? What the frick is “290”? Basically, you’re a fricking idiot. Post less or make sure your posts are based on info that is correct and would take you less than 10 seconds to identify accurately and correctly.

SMALL TOWN POLITICS, plain and simple.

Stop in at Bergerons and get some smoked boudin and smoked chicken thighs. You'll change your mind about the area.

I've always wondered how places like that stay in business in the internet age. Every time I pass by there's one car in the parking lot, which I assume belongs to the clerk. Unless the customers park at the McDonald's next door to hide their shame.
