The Cost of Trumpism on the Religious Right
Posted on 4/17/26 at 12:36 pm

If there’s one thing Donald Trump’s election and tenure in office is to be commended for, it’s for exposing evangelicals and all the southern Billy and Betsy Betterthanyous of the world to be the steaming piles of hypocritical shite we knew they were to begin with.
Their steadfast defense of his vulgar language, coupled with his hateful profanity laden attacks on his political opponents throughout his entire term in office, along with his soft porn picture posing wife were the perfect example for these "Christian" people to cling to. And cling the modern-day charlatans have, in overwhelming numbers.
Blatantly courting the religious right, President Trump reportedly warned of violence and persecution against conservative Christians if the GOP loses. Evangelicals, he said, were “one election away from losing everything.”
I put forth the idea that they had already lost everything back in 2016.
I mean once you’ve hitched your wagon to this shite show all your pious “family values" and your fine "Judeo Christian roots" are laughable and any claim to the moral high ground you may of tenuously occupied prior to 2016 must all be surrendered now. You compromised all that, all your high and mighty ideals and morals for Trump. All for Donald fricken Trump of all people!
You remember him right?
He’s the guy that’s been married three different times, the guy that likes to “grab em by the pussy", the guy that fricked the porn star.
No. I don’t think we will be letting you people off the hook for a very very long time. You people, who were so very incensed over a blow job in the oval office and then suddenly your pious morality could be compromised oh so easily.
As easily as say getting drunk at the bar on Saturday night and cheating on your wife in the parking lot and sitting on the front row of church come the next morning.
"AMEN BROTHER!”
In fact, you don’t get to lecture anyone on the “sanctity of marriage" or "family values" anymore. You forfeited that opportunity the minute you threw in with Trumpism.
So please, from now on, spare us all your sanctimonious self-righteous bullshite and move along. No one is buying it anymore.

Christians who still think Trump cares or that he’s a Christ follower are deluding themselves and it’s honestly very sad to see.

While many of Trump’s attributes as you describe are despicable, many conservatives voted for him because of policies he promised to promote, not because they believed him to be a great Christian.
When given a choice between a vulgar man who says he will appoint justices to e.g., overturn Roe v Wade and a woman who wanted to codify abortion rights, it’s very reasonable and rational for a conservative Christian to choose the candidate whom they believe will result in less child murder.
Abortion isn’t the only issue that this line of argumentation can be made, but it is probably the main one.
Do I believe that Trump bears the fruit of a born again Christian? No, I don’t. But leaders and laws are meant to promote good and restrain evil. Even as vulgar as Trump is, he was way better than the democratic candidate.
Right wing Christians can peaceably live with their decision to vote for Trump.

Interesting take. There is actually an ancient papyrus from around 30 ad that says almost the exact thing about Jesus and his hanging out with the whore Mary from Magdella.
I mean, once someone falls all good people are called to only remember their faults.

No one has lectured your dumb arse on this anyway. I hope you aren’t suggesting that you progressive fruit cakes are the ones to lecture about family values. That would be stupid.
Tell your two dads that they failed you but that was entirely predictable.
