I think it was both sides of the aisle. I don't know what he did, but this was a coordinated effort. I don't buy that it was just to get him out of the Governor's race, they are systematically destroying him to make a point.

There’s possibly a reason they are letting Trump stay. He is making these mid terms easy for them.

2 things.
He amped up his TDS & that played well to give him cover in the party.
The guy was supremely foolish to allow video of him to be taken in the first place.
Like Al Franken with the pic of him to pretend grope that sleeping service woman… dumb.

He’s young enough and dumb enough not to instinctively react when people bring out a phone in social settings. It’s so common place for him. He didn’t comprehend that somebody might release that video to the press. He just assumed everybody in his group is team Eric. 
We don’t see old politicians get caught like that. In their life experience video cameras on phones is still relatively new so anyone in their small group doing that will immediately stick out in their mind. Imagine if somebody in Ted Kennedy‘s group pulled out a big cam recorder when he was making a waitress sandwich in the back room of some restaurant. That’s how Eric should be looking at it, but he’s just not that bright.

I'm pretty certain they have nothing on Trump or they most certainly would have exposed it by now. However, with regard to the Swalwell case, don't think for a minute that the Dems don't understand that they can get more with the threat of exposing someone's dirt than they can once it has been exposed. Once they play that card it loses its value since it can't be played again or used to keep someone in check with the fear of it being released.
They most certainly used this to control and manipulate Swalwell, and are undoubtedly doing this to others. The old Soviet KGB and DDR Stasi were masters at this. (And I'm not so certain that Israel hasn't compromised a few, or more, of our elected and high ranking officials in similar manner.)

Mine is that they gave us a nice case study on how they take people down. Multiple accusers in an attempt to manufacture public judgement, civil court instead of criminal, talking head media outlets all singing the same song.
Not to defend Swalwell, but they always do the exact same thing. We should fully document it and highlight it so they can't keep doing it in the future.

The dude is a Congressman and had women throwing themselves at him. I am 99.99% sure he didnt assault any of them.
But he fostered this “believe all women” nonsense, so it is fun to watch his fall. Hopefully he fights back just for the civil war, but he is just as likely to be suicided

They gave up Swallwell to improve dem gubernatorial chances and to trade him for Gonzales. One for one. We will lose the house and senate in November.
