UTV recommendations, brands to look for/stay away from

Long story, but our scout group is in the market for a used UTV to take to large campouts. 2nd row of seats would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Need more bed space than seating to haul firewood, tables, camp stoves etc around to different places. Are there any we should avoid? Doesn't have to be a super off road vehicle, something like a mule or gator would work.

Kawasaki makes a great one what you ask.
The second row will fold up and slide forward for a larger bed. Its a beast.
A friend has it on a giant lease and it is a beast. He works the shite out of it.

Don’t have any personal recommendations but have been in the market recently, then decided not to buy. But there are YouTube videos that do a great job comparing the big 3 UTVs, Honda, Kawasaki, and Polaris.

I’ve owned a Kawasaki Teryx since 2008, can’t imagine anything more durable or dependable…

My current machine is a Polaris Ranger 1000 Northstar. It’s a good machine. No issues whatsoever.

Currently running a 18 honda pioneer 1000-5 with zero issues as well
Don’t think you’ll be dissapppinted in any of the big name brands that fit your needs.

The truth is they’re mostly all the same these days. Warranty/Sale and personal need is the only thing I would consider between Polaris, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Kubota, etc.
frick a John Deere.

Any Honda. They rest will cost you too much in maintenance.

Look at a Polaris Ranger crew 570 full size. Or a Ranger 1000 eps (not the xp version). Both of those would be perfect for what you’re wanting to do.

I own a pioneer 1000 and have been very happy with it. However, for what you’re describing, I would strongly consider a Kawasaki mule six seater with the dump bed. Those things are not the most trail capable, but are very solid machines almost indestructible.

I borrowed two friends' SxS last year, a good bit on a new lease I joined. A Can-Am 1000 6 seater and a Kawasaki Mule 820 with the transforming bed and second row.
The Can-am was more comfortable and geared a little higher, it seemed, but I loved the Kawasaki Mule. Its a work horse and the larger bed was great when I was feeding the property or hauling stuff around. Not as comfortable a ride, though. Had no problems on steep terrain in the Texas Hill Country. Just lock the diff and put it in 4WD.
I am keeping my eye out for a deal on a Mule 820 or the newer 1000.
