In other words, Love is going high, even though the tweet is about Downs (who is also going high). These mocks that have us having to ponder Love or Downs at #8 are wrong.

I also suspect every team in the top 10 wants Downs so they are putting out negative stuff about him. He's gonna be gone before pick 8.

I see a lot of mock forcing one of the top tackles into the top 8. I just don't see it, I know OIT's usually go high in first but this year there is no clear elite LT, and it's possible the top two OT's don't even fit as NFL OT's or LT's. Only 1 clear top 10 QB. 2 maybe 3 Top Edges. WR's aren't spectacular, the non-consensus top WR has injury concerns. I can definitely see S and RB being picked higher than normal. Especially when the top prospect at each position are arguably the two best players in the draft class. I see Sonny Styles rising into the top 8 -10 as well.

The Saints don't draft a player like Downs.

A player like Downs goes to the Steelers or Ravens and is generational in there archive of generational HOF's

Saints do not draft or mold players like that defensively

rising or falling?

He's been a consistent top 6-7 player in mocks for over a month now.

If you're throwing positional value out, then you can throw the draft value chart out, too, and take less to move down and make it +EV

I think the consensus is that Love, Downs and Ioane are the best players in the draft, followed by Styles and Reese. The issue is that S, LBer, and especially IOL have never been high draft picks because of positional value. RB kinda is kinda isn’t.

It will be interesting to see what happens with these players and how much talent vs. position comes into it.

I’ve also heard McShay and a few others say there will be a huge run on OTs at the end of the draft and that they expect 7-9 OT/OGs to go in the first round and only 3, maybe 4, WRs to go in the first.

It's all misinformation.

These kind of quotes are meaningless.

They said the same about Troy Polamalu. He now has a bust in Canton.
Downs is probably the surest thing in this draft.

Why do you make shite up?

Here are some of Polamalu's pro day numbers:

40: 4.33
vert: 43.5"
25 reps

If Downs was ANYWHERE near those numbers he wouldn't have been scared to work out

I'm consistently seeing him on the board at 8. Not that mock drafts mean anything. Hell most of them still say RB is one of the Saints biggest needs.

Anything from "experts" at this point is just smoke,

The teams already have the team boards completed and guarded tighter then strangle hold Goodell has on NFL.

There is zero evidence he was scared.
He has been a projected top ten pick for a year. I guess he could have broken his foot like others there. That's scary.
And believe it or not Slo teams have a way to clock his speed on every single play of his career. Amazing.

Troy’s measurables were really good but he had Pre draft scouting reports with several negatives about Troy P. Examples:
LINK

Below is an article stating that Downs pro comp is Troy P. even if his 40 time isn’t the same.
