Upcoming timelines for Wade and Basketball

Since Will Wade has just returned to LSU (as of March 26, 2026) to replace Matt McMahon, he is currently in the middle of a high-speed roster overhaul. To have his full team put together for the 2026-27 season, he must navigate two primary NCAA deadlines:
1. The Transfer Portal Window (Closing Early May)
Because LSU's roster is currently in flux—with reports that as many as eight players have entered the portal—Wade's most immediate "deadline" is the portal entry window.
Entry Deadline: Players typically have a 45-day window starting the Monday after Selection Sunday to enter the portal. For 2026, this window generally closes in early May.
Signing Strategy: While players must enter by May to be eligible for next season, they can sign with LSU anytime after entering. Wade is expected to be extremely active here, with a reported roster budget of roughly $13 to $20 million to attract talent.
2. The Regular Signing Period (Ends August 1, 2026)
For high school recruits and incoming freshmen, the NCAA Regular Signing Period is the official window for scholarship papers:
Start Date: April 15, 2026.
End Date: August 1, 2026.
Significance: This is the final date for a student-athlete to sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) for the 2026-27 academic year. By this date, Wade’s scholarship slots for the upcoming season must be finalized.
Current Roster Status
As of mid-April 2026, the team is being rebuilt from the ground up:
The "Last Tiger": Jalen Reece is currently the only remaining scholarship player from the previous regime not in the portal.
Staff Additions: Wade has already begun solidifying his bench, recently hiring former LSU head coach Johnny Jones and Rick Stansbury to his coaching staff.
Bottom Line: While Wade will likely have the "core" of his team identified by the end of the portal window in May, he has until August 1 to officially lock in every scholarship spot.

Go away. You are clearly not a basketball fan. You only post negative shite in all the basketball threads. Please just go away if you have nothing positive to contribute.

Get us on probation
Hey, Scott Woodward. It’s no longer 2009. Probation for all intents and purposes no longer exists in college sports.

It’s time to move forward. I think he’ll get us back on track. That’s something worth enjoying. Enjoy it

That was one of several hundred excuses you McMen used the first 2 years of the record losing streak of McCouldn’tWin’s career

Just remember McManiacs - next year is year zero for Wade. It doesn’t count.
