And she's not guilty

Emily Zeringue has taught at Pierre Part Elementary for the last six years. Earlier this year, she was scrolling on Facebook and found a message about the America's Favorite Teacher competition.
"You just had to be an active teacher from Pre-K to 12th grade in the United States," Zeringue told WBRZ. "I applied, never thinking that I would actually get chosen as a contestant."
One of the prizes for winning the contest is $25,000. However, Zeringue doesn't plan on keeping the $25,000 for herself if she wins. Instead, she plans on giving to a friend and co-worker who is going through a very tough time.
Last month, one of Zeringue's co-workers, Valerie Hebert, who teaches special education and 6th-grade math, had her home heavily damaged in a fire.
"We were only in it for about a week and a half or so, and then a fire happened when we were inside. We don't know exactly what started it. There's still an investigation going on. They're saying it's electrical," Hebert said.
Hebert says her family has lost everything, but that thankfully, no one was injured in the fire.

doesn't matter - the amount of hoops to go through to get it taken care of is ridiculous. my dad's house in Grand Bay burned due to a lightning strike (Many years ago) and it took the insurance folks 9 to 10 months to do anything about it.

I'm happy to vote for her.
And not vote for my 37 year old "boss girl" coworker who spends more time whining about teaching than actually teaching. She's posts her link to the contest on social media every single day and says she really needs a good vacation to Hawaii to recharge for her classroom.

Emily is as sweet as they come. And she is tiny! I don't think she is even 5 feet tall. She was a cheerleader in HS. All-around great person.

That's a bit simplistic... insurance takes forever and doesn't cover everything. Imagine if you were to move tomorrow how much uninsurable stuff in your house that you need day-to-day. Blankets, dishes, towels, clothing, raincoats, books...
Your house burns down and you need that stuff NOW. Can't haggle with insurance for twelve months. NOW. How do you sleep or dry off from a shower or clothe yourself in order to get to work or school?
Have a little compassion and reality.

She nominated herself for "America's Favorite Teacher".
Sounds kind of attention whorish.
