The attention seeking by departments lately is a bit much.

Looks like Mike hit too close to home for them.

There's a line here and they are on it. On one hand the guy is making comments in a public forum and doesn't have a right to how those comments get interpreted or maligned.
On the other, they are public servants and taking criticism is part of the job. This might deter other people who have real complaints from speaking up when it's actually necessary.
I think they shouldn't do this.

Michael Himes definitely still lives at home

Better hope Ole Mike doesn’t find a lawyer. Half assed attorney could sell the idea that a public law enforcement/ government agency calling out citizens for expressing their views is public intimidation and a violation of first amendment

Update: This was our first and last one….??
I think once was enough, but I think it got the point across.

Someone screaming "piggy kkk bootlicker" isn't trying to make a valid complaint.

Is it wise?
One of most important checks in life decisions that often goes unused.
Don’t think this is.
As for Mr Hines, he sounds like his life is missing a few wedgies. Also unwise.

Yes, I agree.
That’s not the point. The point is that the police department is making an example of someone and they choose the line. I think there’s a general reasonable line and the guy in question is being belligerent.
But what about when a reputable schoolteacher is up in arms over something valid and is less than diplomatic in a comment section to voice her unapproval? That’s fine, but what if the PD doesn’t agree? This could turn into an unfair abuse of a platform where the PD know people go to see community news and can be sure that their critics have full visibility. And they get to determine that.
That’s why I said there’s a line here. It’s best to just not do it. They aren’t the arbiters of what speech needs to be exemplified as bad behavior. That’s why we have a structure in place.

If you have real complaints, you should be filing real reports not whining on FB.

Looks like a "sovereign citizen" type of doucgebag.

Cops are thin-skinned assholes.

How would you interpret those comments?
You doing some might far reaching here....

Eh I think you are reaching. If the comments were sent privately and the PD made them public and basically doxxed the sender, that would be different.
Micheal made the comments in a public form with his name and photo. This is equivalent of the PD reposting his comments. Now the public can determine if he is a douche and give him appropriate feedback.
