If tweet fails to load, click here. This is crazy good content. Basically he looked at what Shough does best and what the Saints want to do, then broke down all the top WRs data to see who does what Shough excels at well and who does better at what he struggles with ( go routes )
Not going to list everything obviously but here’s his conclusion:
Here's what this comes down to. The Saints offense under Shough is built on short-to-intermediate efficiency with specific routes — outs, hitches, slants, posts — and it has specific holes: deep balls, go routes, play action.
The receivers who match what Shough already does well are Boston (the best hitch and short-game receiver in the group), Cooper (outs and hitches), Tate (elite across the board), and Tyson (the quick-game specialist). The receivers who fill the gaps are Tate (deep ball, play action), Lemon (explosive plays, vertical stretching) and Cooper (steady deep-ball production).
Tate is the only receiver who does both — matches Shough's strengths and addresses his weaknesses. Boston is the most well-rounded option and the only receiver who was productive against man coverage at a high level. Cooper is the closest to a pure scheme fit. Lemon adds the dimension the offense most lacks. Concepcion is the wild card. Bell is the safe but limited option. And Tyson brings elite production on the exact quick-game routes Shough runs most — with the open question being whether his intermediate and deep limitations were a product of Arizona State or a preview of the NFL. The film says it was more the offense than the player.

No receiver in this draft is worth pick 8.
Omar Cooper has been available at pick 42 in some mock drafts.
I'm a little cautious in considering Boston. Did not run a 40 at the combine or his pro day

Cooper at 42 has been my dream but he ain't gonna be there.

the Saints were such a bad first quarter team. For sure there will be an emphasis to start faster. They have made additions already that will help out there.
what Shough has done and what he will do aren't the same.
I mean you think Moore is saying, hey, let's just go do what we did at the end of last year winning the last 4out of 5. Everything we did last year will work out perfectly in the same way in a different season?
No.

Maybe two months ago. Every mock has him going in the first now. Same for Boston but a few have him dropping to the 2nd, but very early 2nd.

I’ve kind of thought the best WR we could take is Antonio Williams but I think he’s going to go around 65-70. He’s not a #1 but he would tear it up in our offense..
If somehow we could end up with
Downs
Malachi Lawrence
Antonio
That would be sick

The good news is that this draft is so deep at WR that we shouldn’t feel pressured to take one early. McShay has predicted on his podcast that people will be surprised to see quality WR drop into the 2nd bc of the depth.
He says it’s a rough year to need a tackle bc after the first 6 it is like a Niagara Falls drop off. That means OT is likely to be overdrafted in the 1st and push WR down into the 2nd.

There isn’t a receiver in this draft I’d take at 8. We have to go defense. I know Bain is the popular pick because he’s a pass rusher but Mansoor Delane would have way more of an impact on our D.

One of Styles,Bain, Delane should be there and you have to him.
But if somehow they’re all gone I wouldn’t hate Tate or Lemon.

I don’t think you can draw much about what the tendencies are because the WR group as a whole is terrible and limiting.
Furthermore if you are taking a WR at 1.8, they should be able to do everything, and not have to fit into a box.

I disagree. A good pass rush is a corners best friend. It can make a mediocre cb look elite. But an elite corner will look mediocre if there’s no pass rush and the QB has all day.

I agree with your take. The only WR I would consider at 8 would be Tyson, but I'd pass on him for those you mentioned but I would add Downs to the list.

Cooper is who I want. I'd be ok moving back into the end of first round to get him. No wr is good enough for the 8th pick.

How hard will you melt if the Saints don’t go with Delane
