Long time TD enthusiast and lover of my daily perception of the world with the various inputs of humanity on Tigerdroppings. I shamefully admit that I don’t frequent the music forum enough and wanted to ask the opinion of the band Clutch.,,
I am a lover of the the 90s rock scene, grew up on classic rock, and the heavier selections I could find, and think Clutch to be a great source of jam when I need that edge… having cocktails this fine Spring Eve and enjoying their tunes. Anyone else a Clutch fan?

Great band. Last two albums have been a bit of a disappointment though.

I'm not a huge fan of them but I've always dug this tune. I saw them a few years back with Devin Townsend Project opening. Thought that was an odd pairing. Good show, though.

Liked them in high school. Saw them live 3 or 4 times years back.

I like clutch. I remember when elephant riders came out. It was such bizarre sounding music to my ears. I don’t think I’d ever been exposed to stoner rock before. I didn’t like it at first but it grew on me. I really enjoyed Blast Tyrant and Robot Hive / Exodus. I couldn’t get enough of those albums. But since those, I haven’t found any of their albums to be as memorable. I caught them live at SXSW in 2012 I think. They were fun and I’d like to see them again.

Were never my thing, but I had friends who were into them in the '90s. Just never understood their appeal. They're one of a handful of smaller acts during that time, like Mercury Rev, Cake, etc that inexplicably managed to retain a fanbase and stay active.

I’m a big Clutch fan. I have an Elephant Riders decal on the back on my truck. I think most people assume it’s a military unit.

I've seen them 6 times. They put on a great live show, one of the best. The last 2 albums are definitely not their strongest, but still pretty good. They're just a great live band. You have to see them live, to really understand the appeal.

I saw them a couple years ago at a small venue, maybe 1300 people. It was probably the loudest show I've ever been too.

Frankenstein was what got me into Clutch, and this song still hits

I wouldn't call that small. I've seen Clutch about a dozen times and all but one of those shows was in a venue smaller than that.

Yes!! As you can see, there’s a segment on this board that definitely appreciates them.
Seen them mostly around Jacksonville but three other cities as well. Detroit was pretty epic. Packed out the Filmore up there in December 2021. About 3,000 people. By far the largest venue I’ve seen them in.
My favorite show of theirs was the Varsity in BR in 2019, and not just because of the relation to this board. They were on fire that night and Neil gushed about the crowd at the end. You could tell at the very beginning as well though that he knew the crowd would be top notch. First thing he said was “Good morning Baton Rouge!” Only other time I’ve heard him say that was right after the opener in Detroit, which was extremely rowdy. So he clearly says it when he can tell the crowd is gonna be on it’s game.
Here he is saying it at the Varsity…
