It’s always boggled my mind that hip-hop is even considered music. It’s pure dog shite that requires no musical talent or ability. A freaking record player is not even a musical instrument.

I’m not a huge hip hop fan but this post is chocked full of ignorance. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it sucks. I cant stand when people can’t tell the difference.

I don’t care for the Beatles but they certainly don’t suck.

Recognizing that hip/hop isn’t actual music but rather bad rhyming to pre-made music made by others isn’t ignorance.

I don't consider myself a Beatles fan either. But I can recognize the fact they were at least musicians. They actually played musical instruments and made actual music with those instruments. They went on stage with drums and guitars, not turntables. Again, a record player isn’t a musical instrument. I’m sorry that bothers you. But saying it doesn’t make me ignorant. It makes me honest.

We went from great black music like the blues artists from the 30s, 40s and 50s (as well as jazz); the early rockers like Chuck, Fats, and Little Richard; the entire Motown movement all the way through the 70s with disco, pop and funk (Parliament, The Ohio Players, EW&F) just to degenerate to the talentless garbage of rap and hip-hop? frick this guy.

Some of the music yes simple yes, but plenty of it is A LOT more intricate and involved than you’ll care to look into and that’s ok. You don’t like it so you won’t have an open mind to learn, also ok.

Yes some rappers are horrible, but some are legit talented

I’m sorry you can’t see the skill in what some of these guys do. I never said any of them were musicians, but plenty of them are.

I’m not going to convince you one way or another because your mind is firmly set. But you definitely are a “this thing sucks because I don’t like it” type of guy.

I’d argue Kraftwerk was the bigger influence (since pretty much borrowed largely from them) and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five took it mainstream.

Planet Rock is a great song. But dude was an absolute piece of shite.

I also wouldn’t equate today’s mumble rap bullshite to 80-90s hip hop and rap.
