Despite all the hullabaloo around these parts about “I haven’t watched in years and don’t miss it at all” blah, blah, blah.

quote:

The 2025 season was its most viewed since 1989, the league said, a reflection of “the strength of the NFL distribution model and its wide availability to all fans.”

WSJ

Do a google search on NFL viewership and get this:

quote:

2025 NFL viewership was exceptionally high, marking the second-best regular season on record with an average of 18.7 million viewers per game, a 10% increase over 2024. The season set, or matched, multiple high-performance marks across all broadcast partners, including record-setting averages for CBS, NBC, and Prime Video.

Will be curious to see what comes of the Justice Department’s anticompetitive investigation.

But those of you claiming you ain’t watching…yes you are.

So many more people have access to streaming/tv etc.
The other reason is betting on devices.

Buddy from Ascension is still mad about the kneeling and prefers college football because “it’s pure”.

Easy to do with all the devices floating around these days.

Not enough granular detail to see what they are muddying up the article with.

I still watch it but numbers show men age 40 to 60 have declined some in watching and even more in attending.

I think what has helped the ratings overall, is that it's more easily accessible to watch games than ever before.

Your buddy must be a time traveler who just got back from 1990s-early 2000s because CFB hasn’t been “pure” (i.e. playing simply for a future paycheck) in a long time.

This is so tiring. Of course some players got paid but it was less than 5% of what it is now, and at least back then you had to work for it to try and keep it a secret.

Reading comprehension is fundamental or maybe I needed to be more clear.

I’m not talking about players being paid to play college football by the schools or donors. I’m talking about the fact that STUDENT-athletes have gone the way of the Dodo bird (extinct) for decades. Kids have been playing college football/basketball only as a means to get paid in the pros and not to get an education with the hopes of getting drafted to THEN get paid.

I watched less NFL than I ever have this season. I'm a Bengals fan, so when Burrow went down and Browning showed to not be up to the task, my interest plummeted. I didnt watch games in the 4pm window at all, and skipped SNF entirely. I just didnt care at all this year. Yeah, I definitely didn't care for all the BLM bullshite, the kneeling, the halftime nonsense, all of the other racist social justice horseshite the NFL has been pushing. And it DID affect my viewership some, but not entirely, in past seasons.

This year, I just quit giving a shite about the NFL season, and it's MOSTLY because Burrow went down and I'm just tired of watching the Bengals playing dogshit football.

None of that is to say I'm quitting on the NFL, but it's always been at the bottom of my sports fandom totem pole.

Reds baseball
Kentucky football
Kentucky basketball
Bengals football

I’m 44 and still prefer college football but the gap is closing. Hopefully they figure out this NIL shite.

No I'm not. i don't have a tv in my truck and I'm on the road for the vast majority of football season because of holiday freight.

I saw small portions of games that I had an interest in, but didn't watch a single full game this past season. With the proliferation of NFL games to nearly every streaming platform, I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat.

Yeah, it's all driven by NIL and transfer portal bullshite. No matter how good the CFP ratings are now, the love for the sport will die a slow death if they don't find a fix.

I am also watching more and more NFL. 10 years ago I barely watched any NFL outside of the playoffs.
