Sorry if already posted, I didn't see it.
Imagine being dumb enough to end up with a felony because you didn't want to pay for a bass replica.

Jody Kyle Jeane, 40, is accused of catching a fish in Vernon Lake and submitting it to the Toledo Bend Lake Association’s Lunker Bass Program, which provides replicas to anglers who catch and release bass in Toledo Bend Lake. He allegedly signed official documentation, falsely claiming he caught the fish in Toledo Bend.

The next day, agents saw a photo of Jeane posing with the same bass, which they recognized by its unique tail markings, in a social media post from the Lunker Bass Program, according to LDWF. He was also wearing the same clothes.
The Lunker Bass Program provides free fiberglass replicas to anglers who catch and release bass weighing at least 10 pounds on Toledo Bend Lake. Anglers must present their fish live at a certified weigh station and sign official documentation verifying the location, date and time of the catch.
LDWF agents obtained an arrest warrant for forgery and attempted theft. Jeane admitted to catching the fish in Vernon Lake and was booked into the Vernon Parish jail on April 1, agents said.
Jeane is now in custody in Sabine Parish. Attempted theft carries a fine of up to a $1,000 and six months in jail, while forgery carries a fine of up to $5,000 and 10 years in jail.
The Toledo Bend Lake Association said there may be a possibility moving forward that “anyone submitting an entry to the TBLA Lunker Program will be subjected to a polygraph if deemed necessary.”
Imagine being dumb enough to end up with a felony because you didn't want to pay for a bass replica.

Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office announces the arrests of Brantley Yeley , age 30, and Jody "Kyle Wayne" Jeane, age 34, both of Leesville.
The arrests are the result of an investigation into the theft of two Generac Generators owned by VPSO from a VPSO storage facility. The incident occurred in February 2019.
On September 24, 2019 Detectives and Agents with the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant on the residence of Brantley Yeley in the Anacoco Lake Spillway Park.
During the course of the search Detectives observed a Generac Generator. Detectives were later able to verify that the generator was in fact stolen from the VPSO storage facility.
Through further investigation Detectives learned that Jody "Kyle Wayne" Jeane had actively participated in the burglary and theft of the generators along with Yeley.
Detectives traveled to Rapides Parish and recovered the second generator from an individual that purchased the item from Jeane and Yeley.
On September 30th Brantley Yeley was arrested and charged with one count of Simple Burglary and one count of Theft from a Building. Bond was set at $ 15,000.00.
On October 1, 2019 VPSO Detectives and Agents from the VPNTF took Jody "Kyle Wayne" Jeane into custody at his residence.
Jeane was charged with one count of Theft over $ 1500.00 and one count of Theft from a building. Bond was set at $ 15,000.00. A detainer for the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole has been placed on Jeane.

The Toledo Bend Lunker Program must have removed it from their page. I wanted to see it as well.

Not that I'm condoning crime, but if you're going to commit crime, don't commit it against the guys paid to stop it or investigate it when it happens.
Dumb and cheap is no way to go through life, baw.

Pisses me off he took the fish to T.B. and they released it back into T.B. T.B. needs to bring the next lunker caught and release it into Vernon Lake. Fair is fair.

I don't even do it on purpose. If I lose a fish every time I tell somebody it gets a little bit bigger until it was a world record that I lost. Same with deer that I didn't get a shot at. Every buck that gets by me is the biggest buck I've ever seen.

The best habitat for fish and game is the habitat between the ears of outdoorsman. Someone said that once, lord knows who originally.....
I caught a 3 pound bass once and three days later that damned thing had gained 5 pounds. Damndest thing I ever saw. I'd seen 1 pounders turn into 2 pounders in the length of time it took to toss them back in the lake but this damn thing was growing exponentially. I am pretty certain it would have continued growing unchecked but I told an old boy who was night crappie fishing about it and he said "that's nice, but it ain't nothing compared to what happened to me last weekend". Sensing a good and true story I asked "what happened". He said he had been fishing under the same bridge last Friday night and his coleman lantern fell in the lake. I said that wasn't all that unusual, I was certain it had happened before. He agreed but said what made it a remarkable story was he went fishing under the same bridge the following Saturday night and snagged that lantern and when he reeled it in it was still burning!. I thought about this for a minute or so and told him I would knock 4 pounds off that bass if he would blow that lantern out....he agreed. If that had happened today I guess him and me both would be convicted felons....

Reading this made me think of something I have seen multiple times while duck hunting and I have always wondered it if ever happens to anyone else.
I have, over the course of 42 duck seasons, occasionally shot a bull sprig pintail. I mean a nice one....if there were such a thing a Boone and Crockett pintail...one for the record books. Shooting pintails ain't all that unusual, depending of course on location, but every so often I have shot a really nice one and when the dog brought it back to the blind the damned thing had transitioned into a red headed merganser! Somehow Labrador slobber mixes with the DNA of the occasional pintail and turns the damned thing into a nasty old merganser! That is the only way to explain this transition...the duck was clearly a nice and a large drake pintail when flying but turned into a merganser on the retrieve. If this had only happened once I would think it was some mistake on my part but it happens often enough that I am convinced its something in Lab spit that causes it. Anyone else ever have this happen to them? It happened to me once jump shooting ducks off the Pecos river.....without a lab in the county. I am pretty certain the cause that time was the salinity of the middle Pecos...
