Louisiana QR code for inspection sticker proposal

Great news in you don't live in the 5 parish area governed by the emission testing. If you do after a vehicle passes the safety and emissions checks, the system would generate a QR code sticker with all the relevant data encoded.
So you would still need to go to an inspection station.

Landry is an 11/10 when it comes to LSU athletics and about 2/10 everywhere else.

Yes it’s still stupid af and the money grab stays rolling for the LSP.

I looked it up because I wasn't sure of a few parishes that were governed by emission testing.
Looks like at least 50% of the people who post here might be in a parish governed by emission testing.

Is the emission requirement expiring in 2027? Seems like I read that somewhere.

It should be.
The reason most of the country no longer requires emission testing is that most modern vehicles enter "Limp Mode" when an EVAP system fault code is detected.
It's hard to look cool when you're in "Limp Mode"
Trust me, I know

Oh my! That certainly IS a problem.

It’s going to be really difficult for them to have checkpoints if this passes. Right now every car in Louisiana has to have a sticker so it’s easy to enforce in a checkpoint or drive by situation. If they do checkpoints and people don’t have a sticker they’re going to need to do a lot more work to determine which parish you live in.

I have two questions:
Is the QR code tied to your plate?
If so, does that mean that I’m going to have to go to the DMV each year prior to getting my new QR code?
2. Who is distributing the QR codes?
I guess now that this passed, I need to see how it impacts me.

How so? If you don't have a QR code sticker, you're in violation? It's just another sticker.

Well that’s how the retarded Cajun got elected. Keeps the retarded populace happy with everything that doesn’t have anything to do with legislating. You know, what he’s actually supposed to be doing. Insurance rates are high as giraffes pussy, economic development sucks, infrastructure sucks balls, on and on and on….. Hell though, we got the coaches we want! Hell yeah!

Vehicle owners would no longer have to go through the inspection sticker process but instead would receive a QR code in the mail when obtaining their license plates and registration renewals.

Yes
The QR code will be issued when your register your vehicle every two years.
The code instantly tells an officer everything they need to know if you are stopped.
Not sure where the QR is supposed to be dispayed or carried

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought only specific parishes will need the sticker.

At the end of the day it probably won't pass anyway. I seen somewhere if passed the state would lose $10M a year in revenue.

Texas paper plates still an issue? I havent seen as many when back in the state.

Most of the country has done away with vehicle inspection requirements.
A few highly populated counties require only emissions testing.
Blue states and red states and most every state around Louisiana is inspection free.
Politicians are under pressure to stick to the norm
