I drove my daughter two hours away to a swim meet
My wife calls me on the way home and tells me that I had 121 unsafe incidents due to speed.

She asked me why were you going 85 in a 70? I said how did you know? She said your daughter‘s cell phone has an app on it that tells me how fast she’s going when she’s with her phone.

Caught

She said “ don’t worry yesterday when I took her to the meet I had 80 of them.”

Hey, at least she confirmed it is your daughter!

I busted my wife doing 95, on her way to Disney with my Daughter for a girls trip, on 75 between Lake City and Gainesville. She had the dragster with the flame out the back icon as her car. I called her and told her to slow her arse down… She said it was wrong, I was like, I don’t think so…

She has a lead foot and doesn’t realize she’s speeding..

Gen X parenting is absolutely wrecking their kids. This country is so fricked.

With the way Gen X was able to come of age being latchkey kids to turn around and track every aspect of their kids life is disgusting

Well, she’s a Senior in HS… But still doing 95 pissed me off, and I know she just wasn’t watching her speed..

I love technology, advancement in technology, but I hate that technology is used to track people and what they are doing.

A few weeks ago I was at my moms and my sister was there and she had to ask her daughter something and before she called she said "let me see where she is first", she checks and she is like "she is picking the kids up from daycare right now, I am going to give her some time to get home, I will call her in 30 mins".

That just seems weird to me. Like if you drive somewhere outside of the norm you will be questioned for it. I remember at a Christmas thing for family, a cousin in law was checking to see where her 19 year old son was. He was late from the time she last talked to him, when he said he was leaving and she looks it up and is like "he is going the back way, I wonder why he is doing that". When I was 19, having my parents being able to watch my every move would be a problem.

Not that my parents were the type to want to know my every move, especially at 19, but maybe I am wrong here. It can be a safety thing I guess? But I like to do what I want, when I want and no one question it.

True, she was probably going with the flow of traffic.. Still called her and told her to slow down…

If you’ve ever driven that stretch, she was probably just cruising with traffic.

<<<<<< Gen X and did not do this. I have tried to give my kids as much of the same autonomy and anonymity as I had in HS and college.

She can’t see the speedometer if she’s looking at her phone.

Isn't this the justification for parents tracking their kids, assuming that your kids are up to the same things you were up to?

The wife justified this correctly... She said if the Government knows what all my family and I are doing, I might as well know , too.

Told my parents about it, uninstalled it recently due to battery consumption, now my 80yo mother is a wreck since she cant track me. Granted, I am 6 hours away and going through personal stuff, and included in other circles. Its good for minors and their parents, possibly spouses, thats it. Anything outside needlessly increases drama.
