What is BR lacking that other cities have?

Generally speaking it’s known cities have crime and traffic issues. What is it that BR needs in order to have what other cities have that make them more desirable?

More well-to-do white folks. That's probably never going to happen though given the state of EBR schools.

We had 2 tigers in our city we had Omar and Mike. Cities generally don’t have good public schools. BR has good magnet schools and good private school options.

I wouldn’t say BR is lacking much. Just shitty foresight with roads built in the past and a certain part of the population that likes to commit crime and loiter bring down the reputation.

Safety, security, a less than diverse population?

Diversity is not a strength.

A suburb like St George.

Being walkable. I live in shithole New Orleans. I can walk to a great Spanish restaurant, a French bistro, a cheese shop/restaurant, a Venezuelan restaurant, a soon to be renovated Upperline restaurant by a James Beard award winner, an ice cream place, a frozen yogurt place, a yoga studio, a gift shop, a dry cleaners, two bakeries, haircuts and nail places, two gyms, an urgent care clinic, a CVS, three bank branches, a wine shop, a neighborhood dive bar, a library and a full service grocery store. All within a 90 second walk.
Holy run on sentence.

Honestly, if more well-to-do white folks sent their kids to public schools and got more involved (read: elect the people they want to it)with the school board and what curriculum and standards should be taught in the schools, then you'd see a drastic improvement quickly.
Well-to-do white folks abandoning the schools wasn't the biggest reason for the degrading system though, them abandoning the school board is.
everyone is convinced that Presidential and federal elections are the most important, but the Elections for who's going to be in charge of your local school system is vastly more important.
