His name is Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, crucified on the Cross, resurrected on the 3rd day and soon will come again to judge all mankind. Seek his love and grace before it’s too late… Mark 16 1-8

I agree with a lot of the politics from many board posters here but I still don't get the "save" thing. Why do people think they need to be saved? Saved from what?

There is no proof of what happens when a person dies and far less that there is some kind of heaven or hell. Why do people need to believe in a heaven or hell or even after life? I know most of you do but it makes no sense to me.

To me, the Bible is a spiritual book that can be helpful for your life here and perhaps give one hope if they need it.

If there is one, great. If there's not, I was fine before I was born and expect to be just fine afterwards.

Willing to listen if someone can convince one otherwise but so far, that hasn't happened.

If you will study it with an open mind, without the input and opinions of men, looking for the truth.....

You'll find it.

always fascinating to me that people were doing the same stupid shite thousands of years ago such that their behavior needed to be addressed

Our modern connected society acts just like the Jews under Moses - bunch of whiny bitches.

Even if you don't think it is religious, somebody had to write something to address the same things that long ago.

They could not foresee the freak show though.

Acts 13:38–39

“Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.”

I’m a follower of Jesus but will readily admit that I struggle with the belief that there is only one path to heaven and it’s through Christianity and the belief in Jesus as the son of god.

Consider that the bible wasnt put together for hundreds of years after Jesus’ death and then there is the period before his death so if I subscribe to the belief that the ONLY way to heaven is through Christianity then I would also have to believe that many millions of people didn’t make it to heaven solely because they had no clue who Jesus was either pre or post death…

I struggle with that

Are you sure about that?

There are many here are beyond being "saved"
Not even Allah can help them.

Jesus said he was the only way to the father. He's either telling us the truth or a liar or a nutjob. There are no other options. If we believe in an almighty and all knowing God then we have to trust that he is just when he deals with those you describe in your post.

Maga people are not Christians.

They are not living according to the teachings of Christ. They’re almost completely 180° of being aligned with Christ’s teachings.

No random stranger on a message board should be able to convince you either way. Being "saved" is not something I hang my hat on. Dahmer and Bundy found Christ after their murder sprees, were they saved? Is repenting one's sins simply enough?

I choose Christianity because I was raised into it and believe there is a higher power and that it guides me to be a better person. Yet, like everyone here, still sin.

You do you.

The most intriguing thing to me is that we have moral clarity—we know the difference between right and wrong—but we lack moral ability.

Christianity speaks directly to that reality in a way that actually resonates. It doesn’t pretend the problem is ignorance. It calls it what it is: sin. And it doesn’t leave the solution to willpower—it points to the need for the Holy Spirit.

Paul puts it plainly in Epistle to the Romans:
quote:

“For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate…
For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.”

Augustine of Hippo echoes the same struggle:
quote:

“The good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.”

And C. S. Lewis drives it home:
quote:

“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good.”

Even outside Christianity, thinkers like Aristotle and Ovid recognized the same tension.

That’s the human condition—not confusion, but conflict.

There's nothing wrong with struggling with belief. You're still covered.

This is not accurate. His apostles wrote many of the books in the New Testament.

I also struggle with how souls who have not been exposed to the Word will be treated -- but then again it's not my job to do it and I'm sure I don't have all of the "knowledge" required to assess it.

Personally, I found my solution to this is simply that's none of my business. It's Jesus's business.
Who goes where after to death isn't up to me nor my understanding.

The most important thing to remember about God, is I'm not him!

This why I love the church and switched from SBC to RCC. You’re not alone in asking questions like this. Thankfully there is an answer to almost every theological question imaginable due to 2000 years of church history

From the catholic catechism

, people who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel but sincerely seek God and strive to do His will as known through their conscience may achieve eternal salvation. However, the Church maintains the obligation to evangelize, as salvation is ultimately mediated by Christ
