What the author points out is that Jesus said "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:40). The common held celebrations of a Friday cruxifixction and Sunday resurrection don’t fit that 3 days and nights timeline. The explanation is that there were special or high Sabbaths that didn’t fall on Saturdays.

“ Most people have no idea that the Bible talks about two kinds of Sabbath days—the normal weekly Sabbath day that falls on the seventh day of the week (not to be confused with Sunday, which is the first day of the week), and seven annual Sabbath days, listed in Leviticus 23 and mentioned in various passages throughout the Bible, that could fall on any day of the week.”

“ As John tells us in John 19:31: "Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies [of those crucified] should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken [to hasten death], and that they might be taken away."

Mark 16:31 states that after the Sabbath, the women that went to tomb bought spices and then early on the first day of the week went to the tomb. Did they buy the spices early Sunday morning or the day after the High Sabbath, which was on a Thursday in 31 AD? If the author is correct, Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, the Special Sabbath associated with one of the seven festivals was Thursday, the spices were bought on Friday, Jesus rose on Saturday evening, and the women went to the tomb early Sunday morning to find it empty.

The article goes into more detailed points and is very logical, not disputing anything in the Biblical account. It is worth reading if you agree or not.

Well, Wednesdays have been known as Hump Day for eons and Saturdays are the most fun day of the week, so it fits.

In first century Jewish culture, the Sabbath ended on Saturday after sunset. I hope this helps.

The day of the week we acknowledge simply doesn't matter. It's no different than people getting lost in the weeds about Jesus not being born on December 25th, and that that was actually Saturnalia.

Don't get bogged down in the minutiae.

The Catholics decided Friday was the day he died, and they were wrong. Look up Council of Nicea and you’ll see where it all happened.

Sounds more likely that the tomb of a high profile religious figure was robbed and they spun this in a way that caught on

It still does. Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. Every major holiday starts at sundown the night before you see it on the calendar.

Not surprising. I doubt he was born on December 25th, too.

It's mostly bullshite and the only reason we believe in some of this shite is because it was forced on our ancestors.

OR, some of us in fact, do believe that we, in our best state, are vain and wicked. We are in need of a savior.
