In regard to the F-15 being shot down over Iran, why does our government feel it’s necessary to publicly say we’re still searching for one of the crew members? Wouldn’t it make more sense to simply report that both were rescued, potentially discouraging the enemy from continuing their own search?

Maybe they have rescued them and are sending the Iranians on a wild goose chase.

Sounds like a great plan, would really be great for our credibility if this person was then found dead and/or in Iran’s possession

Has the government said anything? Everything I've seen recently is based on "sauces."

This is most likely, unfortunately. Nothing heard which means next of kin notification. We should hear something in the next day

The unfortunate but obvious rationale is the WSO is KIA. Otherwise they would have found him.

Look up Scott Speicher in Desert Storm.

This is the cost of war, compounded when you throw your military at a supposed problem without clearly defined goals.

Because if we said we found him, then it turned out the Iranians actually found him, there would be no coming back from that PR nightmare.
