will inevitably be challenged in court and probably up to the Supreme Court.

There is also the SCORE act currently in limbo in Congress that needs 7 Dem votes to pass but appears to be gridlocked with no signs of movement.

5 years to play 5 and no redshirts is definitely the way to go. Players shouldn't be punished for not taking a redshirt (or 3 like some players)

Under the revised transfer rules, athletes would be allowed to transfer once without penalty, but a second transfer would trigger an automatic redshirt season. The order also redefines eligibility, with a 5-for-5 model: athletes have five years to play five seasons.

Congress needs to codify this shite into law.

Fan bill of rights.

And would help players in the long run...who need structure more than anyone at that age with talent and greedy hanger-ons whispering in their ears...

Someone needs to protect the babies from the Mommas shopping around for the biggest quick payday, year to year,, team to team.

Shocker, players are getting bad advice as soon as the looting store opened.

I know the downvotes will rain, but...

Executive orders aren't a substitute for legislation. They are merely orders from the executive to the executive branch telling it how to carry out a constitutional or legislative mandate.

What's the legal basis for such an order?

The only possible thing that comes to mind is tying compliance to federal funding.

And bring back the sit a year when you transfer. If you’re that big of a difference maker, then I’m sure some trial lawyer firm will pay for a year for you to sit so you can ball out for their team the following two years.

Everyone who’s been bitching about both will now support the things they’ve been saying are destroying college sports. The mind virus is real

Unfortunately, the NCAA doesn't fall under the executive branch, so this doesn't mean much. Hopefully, it can get the ball rolling though.

It should be the other way around, you get 5 years to graduate if you play 4.

You shouldn't get an extra year to play just for the hell of it. It's a 4 year college, you get 4 years of playing. You take a redshirt, you still only get 4 years of playing. No player should be playing for 5 years unless they are a grad student.

If this would be final, would this go into play Aug 1st for all athletes or athletes entering college this upcoming season? For example, If this was enforced fully across the board, TC from Ole Miss would be out?

This is complete theater, he has no authority or control … none … over college sports. This goes to the Supreme Court, he gets spanked 9-0. But fans will ejaculate on themselves about this because they’re so desperate to have someone look out for their interests and nobody is, or is likely to.

This douche should have better things to worry about, like the stupid war he started. the President was never meant to micromanage ever aspect of life, i actually remember when that was a major tenet of conservatism/GOP politics
