St. Louis is a joke.

Work trip - stayed in Clayton, uber downtown for my first Cards game. Absolute ghost town downtown. Horribly placed stadium. No nightlife. No people around. No restaurants open postgame.

It looked like a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland 20 years ago

This story is repeating itself in many once great American cities. I know there must be a common ingredient at work, but I just can’t put my finger on it.

You should visit East St. Louis. I hear it’s beautiful.

I’ve been there once and we ate dinner at a place where the chicks were topless but had painted on shirts.

Headed there this summer to catch a game. Hope it is still a ghost town. Not a big fan of people

You need help getting back on the expressway so you can leave?
You see which way you're pointing? You see that place? Do you see the sign, "Rib Tips?” Well, frick that, you don't want to go that way. You go half a block down the street and you'll see a Torino with no wheels on it. Inside that Torino is my cousin, Jackie. Tell him that you're my boy,
and that you're lost. He'll make sure you get where you're going.

How the hell does St. Louis have such a large metro population while the city itself is below 300,000 now
Posted on 4/2/26 at 8:32 pm to hg
Actually 2024 says 279,00. Dropping 10,000+ a year
If you want the reasons just Google the demographics

We just need more community financing and understanding. Will work any day now.

The area near the arch has a very nola feel to it. They could be sister cities.

Did you check out The Hill while there. If not you really missed out.

Atlanta is similar. Huge metro population, but the city limits population is really small in comparison. Miami, too.

Only difference is people. If there’s one thing Nola is good for it’s foot traffic. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Nola’s just much more of a draw.

Was there last week, I dare say its in worse shape than NOLA. Was suprised at how much second-hand weed you smoke while walking the streets.
Positives: The Zoo was one of the nicest i have ever been to. Downside was it was free (meaning anyone can, and i mean anyone can go). Food scene was somewhat good.
