Maybe this should be a book board thing, but I can't wait for this.

An alien invasion has wiped out most of humanity and any survivors are forced to fight for their lives on a sadistic intergalactic game show. Sounds bad, right? Now try doing it with bare feet and a stuck-up, self-centered, tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner. Welcome to Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where the apocalypse will be televised … and Coast Guard vet Carl finds himself stuck with his ex-girlfriend’s award-winning show cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, as they try to survive the end of the world, fighting monsters, aliens, an insane A.I. and even other survivors … all for the sake of good TV. Survival is optional. Entertainment is not.”

Seems like it’ll need a LOT of CGI. All the aliens, dungeon monsters, magic spells, crazy settings plus Princess Donut as a main. Story has been really fun, but casting is going to need to be spot on. Really curious who could voice the AI.
If it’s successful, they already have 7books to work with and another coming out pretty soon. The author has been absolutely cranking them out, so no GoT issues either (damn I hope I didn’t jinx it). Poor guy playing Carl is going to have a decade wearing nothing but boxers.

Honestly an animated series seems easier. Not that I’d prefer that.

I saw this all over Twitter today and I knew about this last year. I was kind of surprised that it was such a hullabaloo.

Matt Denniman (sp?) is a lot like Andy Weir that writes some good crowd pleasing books. Nothing that’s going to change the world but enjoyable.

Will the people who read the book and also complained about the phone message in Pluribus get angry if even a single achievement announcement gets cut?

Live action? Peacock?

This is going to suck.

Yeah, this will be a very expensive show to make.

Yeah I dont know how its going to make expectations with Live action - I would definitely have recommended an anime or at least animated (eg.pixar style) series

(cautiously) pumped either way

There's so many characters you simply can't do with practical effects that it almost guarantees that this will be half baked at best

This could be such a winner as an animated series. Can’t imagine it working as live action.

Should have been animated with Jeff Hayes doing all the voices.

Some books are better left as books. The team adapting the book to this format is gonna have to put in a lot of work to get the tone right.

Agreed. I think about the recent Murderbot show. I like the books. I liked the casting. I liked the showrunners and thought the show had a ton of promise. It's also MUCH less challenging source material to adapt than DCC. Yet... the tone just felt off from the very beginning to me, and I didn't even watch beyond the first episode. Now, it might have gotten it right as the series progressed, and some people may love the adaptation, but as a book reader it just immediately fell flat.
