Nobody wants a homeless shelter in their neighborhood, not even the people who claim to want to help the homeless.

Furious protesters blocked off construction trucks and swarmed the site of a proposed homeless shelter in Brooklyn on Sunday evening — after rumors swirled that workers would break ground at the new facility as early as Monday morning.
Several hundred protesters lined multiple blocks in Bensonhurst, calling upon Mayor Zohran Mamdani to shut down the city’s long-standing plans to erect a 150-capacity men’s shelter at 86th Street and 25th Avenue.
Roughly 100 NYPD officers, some dressed in riot gear, attempted to quell the crowd of residents who pushed down barricades and surrounded a moving container truck near the planned shelter site after unconfirmed rumors swirled that construction would begin bright and early on Monday morning.

Just call it a transitory migrant center.
Problem solved.
Problem solved.

Exactly. But the difference is one thig is theoretical (let's elect a socialist; he cares about homeless people), and the other is concrete (that muthaeffing socialist wants to put a homeless shelter in OUR neighborhood)

Protests against the planned facility in the predominantly Asian District 43 have been ongoing since the city first notified the community about plans for the homeless shelter in November 2023.

During one heated protest in July 2024, Councilwoman Susan Zhuang (D-43) was arrested for allegedly biting a deputy NYPD chief during a scream-filled clash with cops. The charges were later dropped.

Commies gonna commie
every commie thinks they are going to be doing art or just tending their gardens when communism hits, not being lined up against a wall and shot or mining coal
The same thing applies here

It's all fun and games to cosplay as a SJW until the problems of the world come to your neighborhood. These people are privileged, they live in a make believe reality, they actually judge people based on their race, religion, and origin and think they know best. We saw it first hand when those governors were flying migrants to martha's vineyard and "sanctuary cities". They were corralled and bussed away quicker than they could be identified.

The very definition of NIMBY.

Here is an excellent place for shelters and foot washing stations among other immigrants’ needs and requirements:

I remember when progressives would invoke the poem written on the Statue of Liberty when discussing immigration:
What changed, prog bros?
quote:
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
What changed, prog bros?

Commie Mamdani first wants to raise property taxes and then finds a way to lower property value.

Apparently a majority of New Yorkers did. The "find out" side of that action is glorious to watch.
I guess they all thought this stuff was going to be put up in Harlem while they patted themselves on the back for solving a crisis.

Wait until commie Mamdani destroys the gifted school options and half of the remaining white people and Asians flee.
