Time. for kid to have chance to play everyday…Yorke can get in the DH rotation. He can’t hit SEC pitchers and isn’t very good at 1st. Give the youngin a chance at 1st

Why does Yorke take the brunt of the blame every weekend?

Literally Yorke gets so much hate

It's been posted many times here, but Braun has never really played 1B. He said himself in an interview that he only played outfield growing up. He projected as a first baseman so that's where the recruiting ranking came from. There is no reason to believe he would be better at it than Yorke.

If Yorke was playing RF and weighed 200 LBs, there would have never been a comment about his performance.

Or hes a pull hitter that hits into the shift constantly, an average 1st baseman defensively and a liability on the basepath. He does have a decent eye but hes not making a lot of good contact.

One of his 3 hits this weekend was a swinging bunt he hit against the shift off the end of his bat

Edit: love the myriad of down votes with zero people refuting what i said with any tangible baseball evidence

To be fair, he's earned a lot of the comments. He has been visibly lazy in the field at times. And people aren't going to give you a pass for that if your body type makes it look like you're lazy off the field. Whether that's right or wrong of people, he played into their stereotypes.

Braun can play without benching Yorke. Pretty simple

I'm not trying to pile on Yorke but this is truly baffling to me. He often seems overmatched at the plate and I'm not sure why pitchers challenge him less. To Yorke's credit, he gets on base with discipline which is what you like to see. His glove is very questionable though and at times it does feel like he's lazy.

4.5 pitches seen per plate appearance on the weekend as well. (63 pitches over 14 plate appearances)

I haven't done the calculations for everyone, but from having done them before on the team in prior years, that's a good number.

lot of foul balls too. I do wish he'd hit some of the balls in the play as hard as he does some foul balls lol

He's had some absolute rockets foul. Caraway still has the farthest one I've seen this year when he hit a foul ball on the UHigh field. But Yorke consistently gets some high exit velo foul balls to right.

Yorke has the 2nd highest OBP on the entire team; just BARELY behind Jake Brown. He's not going anywhere out of the lineup at least

Hes got to lead or be close to leading the team in strikeouts looking though.

Im not saying he doesnt have a good "eye" or that he does.

But if you leave the bat on your shoulder you are going to both strikeout and walk a lot. You dont just get the credit for one.
