Let’s hope this is the case and he’s picked in the top 7

This is a weak QB draft.

There are four teams picking ahead of the Saints that need QB's
Raiders
Jets
Cardinals
Browns

True, but next year is expected to be a GREAT QB draft with Arch Manning, Dante Moore, CJ Carr, Lanoris Sellars, Julian Sayin, Brandon Sorsby, Sam Leavitt, and more. The really bad teams are not going to reach for Ty in the top 10 now and miss out next year. Ty Simpsons best chance is a team like the Rams or Pittsburgh who have a QB for 2026 but maybe not for 2027, and don't expect to be picking top 10 in 2027.

The blabbermouth from ESPN disagrees with your assessment. They already have Shedeur

both are really good QBs, not elite. Raiders will get stuck picking one unless they trade back for less value which still may work out for them.

There were plenty of mental giants on this board and on X that were ADAMANT that Shedeur was the best QB in the class last year, and that the Saints were stupid to pick Shough instead of him

It’s literally just guys who are also represented by CAA hyping him up

Similar statements are made just about every draft. Last year it was don’t reach for Shough, Dart… because you’ll won’t be able to grab Arch, Nuss, Klubnik, Allar… in the top 10 for 2026

He's not. ESPN manufactured a draft storyline because Mendoza is obviously going #1 and they don't know how to talk about the pass rushers and olineman that will go in the top 10.

Don’t ever over estimate the gms running these franchises when it comes to qbs.

I didn’t think there was anyway in hell Penix and JJ McCarthy would go the top half of round one. Really Bo Nix either. I didn’t think any belonged in the first round.

Simpson was outplaying Mendoza most of the year and then fell off a cliff near the end.

Somebody will take Simpson in the 1st but it definitely won't be the Raiders so Mendoza/Simpson discussion ESPN has been having is moot.

Simpson had a really good 4 game stretch against good competition from the UGA game to Tennessee. He was pretty mid after that.

I’m old enough to remember last year when people said 2025 was a weak draft class and 2026 would be a great class with guys like Arch, Nuss, Allar, Klubnik, Sellers, Nico, etc.

After 2/3 of the season he was the Heisman favorite. I’d say that was outplaying Mendoza or at the very least on his same level. His play sunk in November and Mendoza pulled ahead. I’d say 2/3 of the season constitutes most of the season, not counting bowl games of course.

Exactly what I said….

Not counting the playoffs, the most important games, when Mendoza played his best and when Indiana pulled Bama's pants down is an odd choice.

Congratulations you win a semantics off.
Mendoza will go #1, Simpson will be draft somewhere in the 1st rd but not close to where Mendoza will go and the predraft manufactured discussion of Mendoza vs. Simpson will look silly.
