Leavitt has confirmed the existence of the plans and it's up to Trump to choose:

The Pentagon is preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran, U.S. officials said, as thousands of American soldiers and Marines arrive in the Middle East for what could become a dangerous new phase of the war should President Donald Trump choose to escalate.
Any potential ground operation would fall short of a full-scale invasion and could instead involve raids by a mixture of Special Operations forces and conventional infantry troops, said the officials. All spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss highly sensitive military plans that have been in development for weeks.
Such a mission could expose U.S. personnel to an array of threats, including Iranian drones and missiles, ground fire and improvised explosives. It was unclear Saturday whether Trump would approve all, some or none of the Pentagon’s plans.

I wouldn't expect anything less. Plan for every conceivable contingency.

Take the straight and we control the world.

Which is why it’s hilarious that all the sky screamers kept telling us that there wasn’t a plan when all of this began.
Undoubtedly, there are many contingency plans, as there should always be.

Half the group thinks we plan so poorly our stockpile of toms is getting alarmingly low
The other half thinks making plans for weeks or months of engagement is overkill

If he puts troops on the ground he can kiss his legacy goodbye.

Boots on the ground boots on the ground. Looking like a fool with your boots on the ground.

I don't want a president making the big decisions based on "legacy". The right decision isn't always the popular one in the moment.

Finish what was started, in it’s entirety. Thats what is needed.

You guys act like this will be the last time we have troops on foreign soil or that this would never be a situation with Iran.

Then man up and do it for fricks sake. This war has been dragging on for a month now

The right decision is to focus on the homeland, not get into new wars. Trump is incapable of admitting he was wrong and turning it around. Covid was a perfect example of this.

though I have clearly not been for this conflict….I kinda think that we have to see this out now that its started.
We’ve kicked over a hornets nest, driven up the price of oil, used a bunch of ammo and bombs, strained some relationships, and if you don’t see it out it’s ultimately for nothing other than further radicalizing a country.

This is a good point. For faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrr too long, our politicians have made decisions for their own financial gain, to hold onto power and to set their “legacy.” Not many have made decisions on what’s right for the country.
Will this Iran plan end up working out? That remains to be seen, but it is a good point to bring up that we haven’t had politicians willing to do unpopular things for awhile. It’s the thing that does kind of suck about our system. You have uninformed selfish idiots for voters that want their way immediately and if they don’t get it, they’ll vote you out. Unfortunately, many everyday Americans don’t give a crap about what’s best for the country either.

Preemptive war to “keep peace” only results in war.
We were told 6 months ago that the intelligence showed we had destroyed their nuclear capabilities for year. Now they were “weeks away”
This is the same warning we have had since the 90s.
Which intelligence was right?
ETA this isn’t second guessing. It’s first guessing. When we took out the Ayatollah and Trump at the time said that was an objective it was easy to see that there was a power vacuum that could spiral out of control

I also wish there were more action/perception of action in the homeland.
He's limited by the other levers of government, for better or for worse.
So far as being wrong about covid- hell yes, he got snowed and that sucked. It was also coordinated chicanery and he did what he was advised to do in the moment. Every pushback he had was derided by "the experts", the media and everyone else with an opinion. Hindsight is 20/20. There was literally NO WAY for him to "win" that battle.
Y'all need to let Trump cook. He's term limited and time alone will tell the full story.

Trump fricked his base. I will never forgive him if he does this. Never.
