Duke committed two violations on game winning play - officials swallowed their whistles

As occurred throughout the game Duke was the recipient of several favorable calls and non calls, but none were bigger than the two non calls on violations on the game wining play. I re-watched it several times and encourage you to do the same, The following sequence:
Duke lined up in the stacked I formation. Fournier was close to the base line guarded by Koval. Ashlon Jackson was at the top of the I near the foul line guarded by Flauje. She broke and looped behind the two players between her and Founier, then she cut back into the line into the paint.
The next player then broke and looped around Fournierinto the paint guarded by Jada.
Jackson then reversed and broke to the right wing . Flauje began to foillow her. At that point there was about a five foot gap between Fournier and the remaining player in line guarded by Zakiyah. As Flauje began to chase Jackson Fournier slid left , hip checked her and threw out a chicken wing to impede her . THIS WAS CLEARLY AN IILLEGAL SCREEN.
THE PLAYER GUARDED BY Z ALSO STUCK OUT HER LEG AND BUMPED F LAUJE SLIGHTLY. This was an incredibly athletic play for Flauje to cut through the slight opening ( Harlem Berry would be proud) andget out to the wing as the pass was delivered to Jackson.
Jackson then dribbled once as she stepped back in straddle position with her left foot back and right foot on the three point circle. Her right foot moved and actually momentarilly turned sideways . Flauje then leaped in anticipation that she had broken her dribble and had no where to go but stright up with the shot. BUT SHE DRAGGED HER LEFT FOOT TOWARD THE RIGHT FOOT ENOUGH TO GAIN SPACE AND SHOOT AN AWKWARD SHOT. THE BLACK FEMALE OFFICIAL WHO MADE QUESTIONABLE CALLS FAVORING DUKE ALL NIGHTAGAIN REFUSED TO CALL THE CLEAR TRAVELING VIOLATION.
Everybody needs to quit bashing Flauje , that was an incredible effort to fight hrough an illegal screen and even get in position to challenge the shot.

Officials in the women’s game are pretty bad
I don’t think playing the race card is the way to go here

If Duke and LSU were reversed, would you still be arguing for those calls to be made AGAINST us???

Replayed it. I didn’t see anything there but Flaujae getting faked out.

The goal is to never leave the game up to the refs….. this game should have never come down to the last play

Yep she went for the shot fake and that put her out of position. Stay down and she could challege the shot. Maybe they shouldn't of run their mouth so much after we beat them earlier this year. Out played and out coached.

It’s womens basketball. Chill out

We were fortunate to even have a 1 point lead at that point. They made a low percentage shot and beat us. I will say it’s been a while since I’ve seen a team seem to be in the right place at the right time quite so much. Not taking away from Dukes efforts, but it seemed every loose ball bounced right to them. It really doesn’t matter because no matter who won UCLA was going to handle.

I despise these kinds of sanctimonious comments. The fact remains both teams got to that point of the game with good plays and bad plays. If its a violation in the second quarter its a violation in the last period. A missed call is a missed call. Two missed violations on one play is absurd.

I really think the team that played the best won the game.

I think your post reeks of sour grapes BUT…a case could definitely be made for traveling on that shot.

Dumb. If she had missed the shot would LSU have outplayed tehm and Mulkey outcoached Lawson?

Virtually every stat was even.

If Flauje struck her hand as she shot and missed would it be OK not to call it because its the end of the game? If it happens you call it. Just ask Gus Rudolph.

This! I can’t think of anything I care less about than women’s basketball.

You get this preached to you from the time you started playing sports. It was true then and it is still relevant now

Let it go. Life ain’t fair sometimes. We will get the benefit of this on occasion as well

We got beaten because we were outplayed on most occasions during that game going back to the 1st quarter. We made one or two more mistakes than Duke. If you chose to analyze every play like you are analyzing this play you’ll find the officiating was bad/good for both teams.
We were down 10 points with 3 minutes left. Everything past that had to go perfectly for LSU to pull out the game. Most things did go perfectly but one play didn’t. The shot Duke made had a 1 in 10 chance of going in. It went in. We lost. We deserved to lose.
