He's getting his info from a "booster" and the AD (through back channel). Neither of those guys did anything to make this hire happen. To the contrary. They tried to make it NOT happen. Those guys may not have committed anything. But here's the deal. The people who made the hire did it without giving much of a shite about what they think.
This was a very big behind the scenes political battle. The political power brokers made it happen with the threat being "get on board...or we will get you out of the way."
In short, any information he's providing is only as good as its source...and in this instance his sources ain't in charge.

Giving how badly WW apparently missed being here, and how much he trusts/wanted to work with Rousse and Shroyder, it’s entirely possible that there was no firm number assurance made.

There's legitimately a 0% chance this is the case. LSU and Wade know what the number is, Moscona doesn't. For some reason he's running with "no commitment" was made rather than just saying he doesn't know what the number is.

I just meant it may not be concrete/reportable number, just that “you’ll get whatever you want”.

The info he's getting is from people who weren't on board with the hire. That's why he's saying there is "no NIL commitment"...because there isn't one from that group. However, the group that made the hire doesn't give a damn about that group.
