I am pretty vocal in my disapproval of this war,

But I was a Fire Controlman in the Navy,

I was the lead on an Aegis SPY 1/D system on DDG-86 USS Shoup. DESRON 9.

Coincidentally, I was in the Lincoln Battle Group.

When I heard the thread title come out of Trump's mouth I started screaming like a middle aged white woman at a BTS concert. I had a nice group chat with a lot of my old FCs, who were equally jazzed.

So damn proud of those sailors. Hoorah, shipmates!

For those unaware. . .Fire control is not firefighting, but controlling the fire of weapons, both guns and missiles, and their connected systems and radar.

Despite the Obama and Biden years….we still have the best military in the world….and it is on full display right now.

That's some good stuff.

Where are they getting their missiles from? Thought they were depleted.

Making if missiles has probably been decimated but 47 years of planning and placement of weapons is something else

The anti-American fake news main stream media created this false narrative, we are loaded. Part of that 200 Bn request it to refill the magazines that we are currently using as well as backfill the stocks that we gave Ukraine and never refilled

not the lincoln but yesterday on a daniel davis deep dive, larry johnson showed a photo of the rear of the gerald r ford. damage looked a little worse than what a laundry fire would cause. although neither word say for sure what the cause of the damage was. i understand that the ship will now be out of service for a year or more. can you speculate on this.

I can assure you had an anti ship missile struck the carrier it would be all over Iran propaganda and the usual suspects in America. I know what you are implying and you know what you are implying

Not very astute are you? Get all your news from people less bright than you think you are.

Your like the little league coach that never opened ruble book. Nothing but fantasy in your mind.

I was involved in development and integration of the Phalanx turret system on the Aegis destroyers as both a Raytheon, and Lockheed Missile & Fire Control partner as part of the technology and team working in the onboard C5ISR SOC. We were in development of technology for this at US Army CPE ST3, formerly PEO STRI, in Orlando so it was easy to expand it to NAVSEA.

Nice to meet someone who actually was involved in operations on the Aegis.

Liberals must hate that no Americans died in the attack.

I bet the Lincoln never fired at all

If the carrier is firing in it's own defense, so many ships and systems will have to have failed

It was always going to be at the pier/in dock for that long after this deployment. That’s typical part of the readiness cycle.

Most of our carriers are in dry dock or undergoing maintenance at any given time. Only 2 or 3 are ready to roll/deployed with another couple available on short notice. The others are out.

They have to. The debate about their value in the future of warfare is certainly valid, but today the carrier is still the absolute symbol of American military power. Taking one of them out would be devastating to the aura they present.
