I genuinely will never forget that. He said some outlandish (for us broken basketball fans) shite at the time. "We are gonna win FAST." I knew his name but Jesus did he completely win over 99% of a dorment dead fan base. People wonder why so many of us are Wade sycophants and i am willing to bet 60% if the answers originate with that opening presser.
Legendary shite and he immediately wins the SEC at 16-2 two fricking years after being 2-16. The shite he did in year 1 with Duop Reath and a Tremont Waters was a miracle in itself.
I am ready. I will ALWAYS back and defend our guy. The man literally paid HIS OWN money (from his wife's account) to get top players here. Now that is a love for my state and school I've never seen any of these other coaches ever have the balls to do.

Well said brother. Same here. I remember watching parts of that press conference more than once because I was so excited to hear this young, passionate coach who I knew little about at the time. You could tell he was a different kind of cat.

More people will attend that press conference than the last few actual men’s basketball games at the PMAC.
I’ve been regularly attending men’s games since my freshman year in 1988, but didn’t actually buy season tickets until Wade’s first presser. He sold me immediately. Welcome back. Boot up!

What a fun time. He is the best at galvanizing a fan base. That first year he was head coach he came to my workplace and spoke to our company trying to get support. He’s relentless. A winner.

Wade is the type, that he won’t throw any media under the bus, but you bet your arse he’ll do his talking by winning games and having a big smile on his face after the games.
