And ordered a Daiwa zillion direct from Japan. DHL sent me an email wanting $189 in tariff fees. Called their customer service and told them just ship that crap back to Japan and I’ll order on the US. Fock that!

Digitaka is supposedly the best one to deal with on that.

You still owe the tariff fee and will not have a reel now.

Just read a FB post from a reel repair service that 13 fishing is no longer selling parts for their reels. Not sure if that is a gamechanger but thought I would share.

Thats your problem. Theyre awful. They constantly miscategorize items and request incorrect duties/tariffs.

As previously mentioned, buy from digitaka.com

They will charge you a flat 10% tariff/duty fee at checkout, no other taxes or shipping. They then handle the rest and its at your door in under a week.

No that's good info that may affect someone's choice to purchase. I hadn't heard that but did some googling and apparently Rapala just bought them. You can still get your 13F reel fixed. You just have to send it in. They're just not selling parts to repair shops.

Had I known this before I purchased the 3 I just got, I still would've bought them. But I know I take care of my stuff. I still use the first Curado that came out some 35 years ago and have never had a single issue with it.

With that being said, as long as you clean your reels often and keep them oiled (and I do)...I've never ever had a reel break on me.
