I've tried listening to Sleep Token, and for whatever reason, I just can't get into them.

Same. I got asked to go see them live at the Bomb Factory in Dallas in a box for free from a co-worker 2 years ago & went. I’m the biggest old school thrash/prog/metal fan & I just don’t get them at all. They are not for me. I will admit their fans are die hard. Good drummer though.

Same, and I love metal. It feels like pop music.

I've only listened to them a little, but I like what I've heard. I've never been a big metal guy, but I do like them and Ghost. I like Ghost a ton, but some people say they're not metal.

They have great production value
I don't get their stuff at all - but I'm happy they exist if only to keep metal relevant

I love sleep token don't get me wrong, but there is a ton of really good metal bands out there right now, it is not just them.

There are a few other relatively new metal bands I’m excited about, but I haven’t seen anyone pushing the genre forward in exciting new ways quite like Sleep Token (and maybe Ghost, whom I’m not really into).

That's a very different statement though than sleep token is almost single handedly keeping metal alive. Subjectively I think that isn't an accurate statement, but of course it is all subjective.
They are definitely at the forefront of their type of metal/rock and are pushing that forward. However, just considering new bands that are all relatively very big right now we have ones like Bad Omens, Spiritbox, Poppy, Falling in Reverse, Knocked Loose, Babymetal, Lorna Shore, Slaughter to Prevail, BMTH, Electric Callboy. Those are just some of the more mainstream ones across a plethora of genres. Point being, I think it is doing a disservice to overlook the resurgance that metal is having right now. Sleep Token is a ver big part of that/worthy of their recognition and has been a phenomenal gateway band to get people from other genres to start experimenting with more metal music.

Some stuff is soft, but then there's songs like this.

I'll give them credit for originality and popularity but as you said, metal overall is in a really strong place right now. It certainly isn't just Sleep Token.

Either you're joking or you also think Five Finger Donkey Punch is great too.....

Just don’t invite them to a metal festival. Their fans were the worst demanding crowd surfers be dropped. Oh, I can think of alot of bands better than them.

Ditto and I love metal.
The OP cracks me up.
Metal is not being kept alive by one band. Lots of great metal albums released just in the last year alone.
I've had the new Sylosis and LOG on repeat for weeks now. The new Megadeth is decent, and that's just a few right off hand.

Quality bands.

They are not the only band. Actually a lot of Metal Heads say they are not Metal at all. Particularly the gatekeepers. So there is that.
