And that is making the assumption they actually went to school and their degree and "resume" isn't completely fake.

Let me first say it sucks Americans are getting bumped by Pakistanis. Another thing to look at is what classes are required to get a degree. Almost all professional certifications require some level of class training or learning. They don’t include 2 years of prerequisite classes before getting to the ones that matter. The last thing I’m thinking about when seeing my doctor is, “Gee, I really hope he did well in his English 102 class.”

Many of these overseas places are diploma mills.

In Karachi, I saw the curbside diploma and resume mills first hand in 1995.

I agree there. Standards are way below ours.
But as someone who finished college late and paid his way and is now paying my son’s way, it felt like a good time to ask why we don’t overhaul degree requirements to fit the actual degree they are getting rather than spending 2 years going through crap they should have learned in HS. Require entrance exams, make admissions more strict, and cut 1.5-2 years out of the scope of the degree.

I prefer my physicians to be well rounded and learned, capable of reading and comprehending papers written in very technical language so they can understand wtf they are doing when working on me and my family.

American medical schools should be for future American doctors. This should be an issue of National Security, really.

We take worthless classes throughout our educational journey. Really could consolidate.
Even in hs I took a years worth of worthless classes like weight lifting and team sports. Fun classes, but still worthless. And by SR year I had enough credits to go half a day.
Really don't need 4 years to complete HS either.

Some of you don't realize the majority of adults don't even have a 4 year degree. So I'm not sure how many spots are really being taken.
Look at our major cities now, kids can't read or do math at grade level. They aren't getting medical degrees. That's our own fault.

Trade School v. Education.
I've argued for years people like you should be given the opportunity to get a certificate in that specific trade instead of a degree (which requires the full education required to deserve the higher status).
The issue is how to permit grad/professional schooling, because in my system it wouldn't be permitted for the certificate holders.

Agreed. If it's at 49% now, then it is soon to be irreversible. What happens when they hold the majority of the positions? You think they aren't going to push it further and recruit more of their own? How does this kind of shite seem to continually happen in the US?

Yes, hence why you can get early admitted to university here after your junior year.
However, you underestimate how critically dumb South Asian valedictorians can be. You haven't read, "please revert to same," enough. India and Pakistan aren't full of geniuses waiting to contribute at the highest levels.
Even with legions of retarded, entitled shitheads that Americans have raised, we have a big enough population pool to pull a few hundred non DEI doctors.

Who cares? Its not like doctors actually heal you or anything great. They do what they are told 99% of the time, so they can get full pay from insurance. Most are a little more than one who delivers information to patients.
