Not sure it gets much better than a tiny house Airbnb and Dollywood

Went with little CAD to opening day this weekend. Stayed at a little Airbnb camp with 10-12 cabins outfitted with everything you need and nothing you didn't.

Back road to Dollywood was maybe 9 minutes so you never had to hit the strip and 4 days was around $450.

This was Dad's spring break for my boy after wife and daughter had a senior blowout earlier in the week.

The idea of putting a park in the mountains and staffing it with retirees was genius. Just the nicest little old men and women managing the rides and eating places..

Not crowded at all and we were able to hit some really nice roller coasters and yes there are quite a few "mountain folks" in attendance but I can't get over how polite everyone is and what a great experience the whole thing was.

Highly recommend. Dolly is a damn saint for what she's done for the people in this area.

I haven’t made it to Dollywood yet, which is surprising since I like theme parks and (at four hours away) could do it in a long day trip.

I have been to Silver Dollar City, though, its sister park. It’s excellent.

I think she's a minority owner. SMNP is the most visited NP in the country, something like more visitors than Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and another park combined. It was a smart business move, basically putting theme park at the entrance of the NP.

She was also born and raised in Locust Ridge TN, just a few miles from Pigeon Forge/Sevierville, so that had a lot to do with the location of Dollywood.

Waking up in a trail lodge (the essentially lean tos with a fence) and watching the fog in the west is incomparably beautiful. It's up there with Bastogne (Jack's Wood) in the winter.

We went once about 8 years ago and I agree with what you typed out about the park. Very good experience.

I also enjoyed that with it being during the Christmas season how they had religious themed shows and such.

There is a hobbit/harry potter one down wears valley rd by the bigfoot cheesesteak/weird curio place that is pretty pricey. Looks neat though.

I had an uncle that lived in sevierville and we went every summer at some point to see him and go to PF and Dixie stampede and Dollywood

Good times.

He’s been dead 20 years and I haven’t been there in a long time

That's because kids are still in school and the travel ball tournaments haven't started yet. Once those get going it gets crazy busy on the weekends- and they have tournaments every week from April through July.

Funny how that is once you get out of the deep south.
