Both him and Haven invited to the finals. Houston put on a "near perfect performance" on the day according to 247.

Not surprised to see Houston shine in that type of setting.

I think Kiffin’s offense is gonna suit him well

Haven
i know the optics of losing the #1 QB in your own backyard isn't great, but i truly think we are dodging a bullet here...
and look, the kid is a great young man... raised very well, a good kid, no doubt.. but in terms of future potential, i just think he's one that will have pretty much hit his ceiling, with very little room for growth, and that his stats are very much inflated b/c of the lack of true competition he faces...

Or there's just a few elite QBs in the state in the same year, it's possible.
Just unfortunate timing on our part because teams basically never sign more than 1 elite QB any more in a single class.
Wish Kiffin and co. had a little more time to work all these guys because it would have been nice to have Haven or Houston enroll a year early in 2026 class and the other stay in 2027 class if they could have worked on that with both to get both in here ultimately.
From earlier last year interviews I saw of Haven, he really liked LSU a lot and seemed like he would have loved to stay in state, once we took Houston though we got thrown obviously on the backburner because no elite QB wants to be a part of the same class as another.

He can spin the hell out of it.

Alabama, who is supposedly the leader for Haven, already has another 2027 QB commit also. Maybe that’s why Florida seems to be moving up his board

The guy committed to Bama is far from an "elite" QB. He's a 3-star on rivals/on3. Local kid staying home at Bama basically but not a huge top target for many by any shape of the imagination

Theses have proven to be so pointless. Throws a nice ball but not a ton to pull from this

Agreed, I more so just want to see the drive and desire to compete even if it’s this or 7 on 7. Definitely doesn’t pre determine much historically but is a pretty cool opportunity for everyone involved.

Obviously not pointless if they continue to do it year after year. I gather you don't know much about networking either.
Throwing the best ball out of 50 other prospects is what you're supposed to pull from it. Not sure what you're getting at.

It's a way to validate what the film shows while also putting these players through the same drills to see how they respond to competition. No different than the NFL combine or on campus prospect camps.

he NEVER was staying in state...

, he really liked LSU a lot
he has absolutely NO interest in going to LSU...
he may have said some non-negative/nice things about LSU, but this guy has never wanted to play for LSU, has no interest now in playing for LSU, etc... and that's ok... like i said, i think we are getting the better prospect anyway, even if i do like the kid...

Florida is very much in the thick of things b/c they are recruiting his GF to play volleyball there... he also wants to play both football and basketball in college, so who knows what other schools are telling him they will allow him to do... i can't see it happening, but i'm telling you what i've been told

There were reports that he would not end up here before the Houston commitment. Time will tell, but I think we went after the better guy.

According to my friend who is a financial supporter of Dunham, Brian Kelly fcked it up with Haven from the start and did not give him much attention at all. He’s going to Bama.
IMO Houston is objectively the better prospect RIGHT NOW. Haven has work to do but the ceiling is obviously high- I’m also told that Haven is a great kid, so I’ll be rooting for him when he’s not playing the Tigers.
