Price is right (around $8) and they actually had plenty in stock. Been looking all around this spring to make Cafe Adobe seafood enchiladas and crawfish monica but nobody in Nashville seems to carry crawfish meat; Publix used to but for some reason they have those silly $20 bags of frozen whole crawfish which have like a whopping 2 lbs of meat by the time you finish peeling them.
anyway, in case you didn't know..you do now

Because it's a product of China. It's not Louisiana or even US crawfish.
Edit: And I see they even went down to 12 ounces for that $8

My Walmart, here in NE Ohio, has the Riceland brand frozen crawfish tails, from LA. 12oz package, around $8.

Glad you posted that.
I’m accustomed to seeing a pack of tail meat like that and thinking I was buying a pound of tails.
I’m used to seeing a $15 bag at HEB in Texas. Always thought it was a pound. But I recently discovered it’s actually a 12 oz bag.
Then I took a road trip back to La and stopped at one of the Scott exit boudin stops. The bags looked bigger. It was a full 16 oz for the same $15.
What the frick? And when?

I pay extra for Louisiana crawfish. But I bought 4 pounds cooked the other day and only got 9 Oz of tail meat. So exec at $15# that's a better deal

A rough approximation (obviously dependent on size of the crawfish) is 7lb of whole crawfish yields 1lb tail meat. So 4lb whole to 9oz tail meat is right on target.

Damn y'all are some snobs. The crawfish Monica turned out fantastic. Sorry I don't live in South La so I'm lucky to find crawfish at all up here.
I guess I could just use my imagination and wait until I plan a trip to la to buy the non China version

I can too, but I don't get that dark. You remind me of a firefighter in Katy I know. Just an unexpected turn of events given some of your post history.

It's a lighting issue
I have to be in the sun all summer to even turn pink

I've gotten the riceland tails at the Walmart in West Nashville.

Of course you can. You can get LA crawfish tails at multiple places in Nashville. OP is either just dumb and fell for the "Boudreaux's" or he's a disgusting slob who doesn't see anything wrong with buying Asian sewer raised mutant crawfish tail shaped fecal nuggets.

Tough crowd. What do they think you are supposed to buy up in the North. lol.

quote:its not that the crawfish is imported, its that it very likely was farmed in an unsafe and unsanitary manner. you can order frozen LA tail meat online in lots of places. yes its more expensive.
Country of Origin: China
for your hands, use this. its a lifesaver.

I try to check Hi Nabor for Crawfish prices. They have a good selection of Louisiana Crawfish in the freezer section.
