I know it's a dead period in recruiting

But doesn't seem like we're in on a lot of top prospects looking at the recruiting sites .

What did you expect? We just hired a new coach whose entire focus was on the transfer portal when he got to BR. I’m sure they are making connections behind the scenes now, and we will see movement as we get closer to summer once we can get some guys in on OVs and for camps.

Agreed from just a numbers perspective. The staff is being selective on who they are targeting for sure. Probably will be a smaller class around 16-20 guys. You just don't hear any news on us pursuing many guys as of right now. But we are on some big names like Simien & Joshua Dobson, etc.

I think people should just start understanding that "Recruiting" from of standpoint of how it's been before NIL is for the most part dead. You aren't going to hear a lot of news anymore one way or another because recruitment now is done by just contract negotiations between schools and agents. It's a money game now with prospects just going to the best financial situation. It's why this page is dead for the most part.
Kids aren't coming to camps to compete infront of coaches anymore. They have PR teams and agents shopping them based solely upon HS tape and hype.
So it's not that this coaching staff isn't in it for top prospects it's just that the way fans have had access to watching the process of recruiting has changed.
Rivals, ON3, 247sports whole business model has changed bc of NIL. They no longer have true recruiting scoop. They just have to sit back and report on backroom agent deals when they happen.

On3's Shea Dixon currently has predictions on LSU for two 5 stars in Hudson and Dobson. You already have Bryant, who would be a 5 star easily if the rankings finished today. You already have Pop on board as your QB, who absolutely could continue to rise as an already top 100 player. Recruiting seems to be doing just fine so far.

Dead period is over. We have been slow publicly in terms of visits. Spring practice hasn't begun yet. They'll start rolling in.
Who is another question. Has been a slow cycle for news in terms of the broader board of prospects. Most of what we know currently in terms of prospects we've known for months. Guessing as visits take place names will emerge. The reporting is a lost cause it seems. Dont think we have anyone with real ties to the staff right now.

What did you expect 20-30 5 stars? Kiffin already told you his strategy at LSU: heavily lean into the portal with hand selected absolute best HS products like 10-15 blue chip recruits.

You dont get the newsfeed I get then. However, in this day and age of NIL and TP stuff the top recruits are maximizing their visits and committing later. Even the ones that are committed say they are still open...
The key for LSU is haveing a good season this fall and getting the Lane Train rolling down the tracks. People dont do the "rebuilding year" stuff anymore.
