At what age do you really start realizing death is gonna happen in your own life?

I know we all know it’s gonna happen eventually. But when do we really start believing it’s
coming. I’m 51, and I still can’t comprehend it.

It can happen anytime after you enter your 50s. Don’t put off making a will.

My parents were killed in a car accident two weeks after my first birthday. I don’t remember them of course, all I know is I’ve known they were dead as far back as I can remember. I was raised by my maternal grandmother and all my aunts & uncles were actually great aunts and uncles. Thy all started dying when I was about 10. Grandmother died when I was 14, the last of them died when I was in my early 20s. Needless to say, the idea of mortality has been with me my whole life.

Truth be told my brother I was referring to the Latin phrase. That video is a bit dark for my taste. All good, though. Cheers

Once offshore.
Twice with guns.
Only once in a car when the Jag got sideways on a wet I-12 and I was looking at the windshield of an 18 wheeler.

There was a couple plane deals too, but only one where I thought it was not gonna end well.

Life here is short.

I think it happens when you start to get tired of shite. When nothing is really cool enough and you can't find anything new to be into. I think that's when you start looking in that direction. I don't see that happening to me. With the advent of AI, I'm doing more creative shite, more business shite, more EVERYTHING.

We're finally living in the "future". I don't think I'm going backwards. And upon my someday future retirement, I think I'll just be getting started in getting into new things.

Really have had non-stop anxiety about it since covid. For myself and for everyone I love and care about. But those are 2 different kinds of worry.

I don't think I'm at full realization quite yet, but I would imagine the death of one's parents would be a significant moment. There would officially be no generation left between you and death.

It's just a song, dude. It's not any darker than a late night thread asking "hey, when did you start thinking you're gonna die?" Newsflash, we're all going to die.
