What a freaking fate changing moment that was. We battle back to win then win the entire thing. Just change those 4 single innings and a mountain of fate is different with Jay in danger of being the first baseball coaches axed during a season this year

Shows how volatile this sport is for better or worse

I agree baseball can be volatile.

This roster doesn’t have the talent that was expected and is far less talented then last years.

Last years talented team was 4 innings away from being bounced by the last team in the entire field at home in a regional

Manieri got over a decade from his natty before he was asked to resign.

If UALR had beaten us and we have the start we do this year JJ would not be in any danger of getting axed.

yes he would have

It would have been two straight years not getting out of a regional

You don’t get anymore than that. This year would have been Omaha or bust for him not to be fired.

You must have forgotten JJ won the natty in 23. It will take a collapse of Orgeron proportion between now and 2029 before JJ could even be considered being fired. He just signed a new deal as highest paid coach in the sport…..get over your hangover.

why are we playing the hypothetical game? If he leaves ack in against North Carolina he’s going to a super and hosting, and if they would lose to Little Rock he would be in no danger of being fired, hell paul made a living of getting bounced in a regional and losing in a super the next. That title in 23’ got Jay at least an 8 year safety cushion.

Some of yall are so damn dumb

How the hell do yall read this as I think JJ should be fired thread?

It’s showing how random and how volatile the modern college baseball game is. A team and coach capable of winning national titles is also capable of losing to the worst team in the tournament and facing a hot seat that very next year

The expectations of maintenance of top results we have as a fanbase is not realistic at all for the modern game

Omaha 1/3 years is good in this era 4-5 trips in a decade would be good. Expecting 7-8 is just not likely

Only once in his survived tenure did CPM ever go 3 years not making Omaha….And he had a super regional appearance there

I do not think it’s possible for an lsu baseball coach to go 3 straight seasons failing to advance from a regional. I don’t even think Jay could survive that having won 2 titles in 3 years. This fanbase would be more rabid than ever. Imagine it’s summer 28 and lsu still hasn’t made a super since 2025….It would be 1790s France here

I hope we never have to test that theory

The parity is what makes College Baseball the last pure sport.

That poster was using your hypothetical and used the term considered to be fired. You literally typed this…

I was thinking about this earlier. Jay Johnson would be public enemy number 1 had we lost that regional last year and were playing like we are right now

You’ve lost your fricking mind. Even without last year, he would still have just been 3 years removed from a title. He isn’t being fired for one down year, assuming that’s how this year shakes out in the end.

You are a fricking retard. Without 23, there would be pressure, but a title buys a coach time a lot more time and benefit of the doubt than you seem to understand.

I mean he clearly wouldn’t be getting fired but you’re kidding yourself if people wouldn’t be ready to run him out of town with just 1 good year out of 5

Ed Orgeron was fired 2 years after a title….And we made a bow game that last year which is the equivalence of getting bounced in a regional

Thinking lsu baseball coach would be fired for 3 years of never making a super is not something I thought would be remotely controversial
