Oh no, panicans. The Strait is totally open--except for US or Israeli flagged vessels.

quote:

Iran said Saturday that all countries besides the US and Israel may pass through the Strait of Hormuz, in a desperate attempt at coalition busting less than a day after the US bombed military targets on its oil-critical Kharg Island.

“As a matter of fact, the Strait of Hormuz is open,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

“It is only closed to the tankers and ships belong[ing] to our enemies, to those who are attacking us and their allies. Others are free to pass,” Araghchi told MS NOW.

Guess the attack on Kharg Island last night produced results.

Panicans are officially worse than people with TDS.

People with TDS officially have a chemical imbalance and mental disorders. At least I can look at them and know that they are retarded with mental issues

Panicans are just miserable losers that are always negative about everything.

In other words, nothing has changed. Our “allies” includes all of the Gulf States and European countries plus Japan.

To a certain extent, wasn't their hand forced here? If they had no oil exports their economy would be ground to a halt

India and China were shitting bricks about the situation. Wouldn’t be surprised they put a ton of pressure on Iran to let the oil flow.

Your point is valid as well.

As was pointed out, most tankers are not US flagged. A Greek tanker sailed through the Strait earlier today with no issues.

What business would a US oil tanker have over there anyway? Aren't ours typically exporting to the western hemisphere and to Asian countries?

Correct. American flagged vessels just aren’t involved in international shipping.

No. Almost no ships are US flagged because the strict regulations about operating as a US flagged vessel. There are only 10 tankers US flagged, and they are almost exclusively used to transport oil between US ports.

There is one US flagged tanker currently in the ME. It had to be escorted through Hormuz by a Navy destroyer. Afterwards it docked in Bahrain for repairs, where it was struck by an Iranian missile killing one and injuring two others.
